Pres. Brian gave some bucks for
the 4-1 Chicago Bears in a thrilling
come-from-behind victory over
Tampa Bay, and for Herb’s joining
us live and in living color. . . . Evie
Michon gave some bucks because
she located the official ballot drop
box at SMC, the only one in
Moraga.
John Erickson gave some bucks
because his Kansas State Wildcats
won yet another football game and
is now in the top 25 . . . Gary Irwin
& Debbie Koo each gave High
Fives for the completion of security
cameras at JMI.
Happy Birthday, President Brian!

the Club). He was home today,
and spent the previous night with
all sorts of local family members.

~~DINNER WITH ROTARY~~
Pres. Brian announced that our
Dinner with Rotary event will be
on Thursday November 12 at the
Town Bakery & Café in Rheem.
The menu will be a half-rack of
smoked pork ribs, mashed
potatoes, salad, and a chocolate
chip cookie. Cost will be $35, of
which $10 is a donation to Rotary.
The brochure is on the Club web
site now, so that you can
personally invite all of your friends
to participate. The flyer has been
sent people who have participated
in the September Dinner with
Rotary.
~~Club Business ~~
Zoom board meeting on Tuesday
October 20 at 5:30. All members
are welcome; ask Frank May for
Zoom numbers.
Pres. Brian announced that the
installation of security cameras at
JMI is now complete; he met
recently with Superintendent
Bruce Burns and MSD Info Tech
manager Jim Bilafer to get a
physical and technical review of the
system on behalf on Moraga Police
Department, as well as Rotary.
The cost for the system of eight
cameras was $23,000, funded from
donations at “A Nite at the Races”.
The Club Mystery Box was in
Pres. Brian’s office, and he was at
home, so if anyone correctly
guessed it, he couldn’t show it to
them today. So, next week he will
give a few extra special hints about
what’s in the package.
Pres. Brian thanked Treasurer
Rich Render for completing the
Club’s state and federal tax
returns, which is a complex and
demanding job which he does well
enough keep us out of the
taxman’s clutches.
 ~~PROGRAM~~
Our speaker today was Kingsley
Frazier, President of the Moraga
Junior Women’s Club. Kingsley
grew up in Moraga and is a second
generation Juniors member, and
has two children, Marlee and Clark.
She has been a member for three
years, and is on the executive
board. She is currently an
Assistant Principal and Program
Director at Camino Pablo
Elementary School.
The Club has membership of 35
women in Moraga, Orinda, and one
in Alamo, who want to raise
money, build connections among
members, and enjoy each other’s
company. Moraga Juniors work to
improve the quality of life for
women, children and elderly
through volunteer service and
fundraising. Through volunteer
work, they strengthen bonds in the
community and make new friends.
This year marks the 50th
Anniversary of the founding of
Moraga Juniors, and they are
contacting their former members
(called “alums”) to get their current
contact information and to see if
they would like to donate to Juniors
projects through their $50 for 50
campaign.
Juniors this year are supporting
Bay Area Crisis Nursery, which
provides a warm, loving, homelike
environment for children by offering
24-hour care and emergency
childcare service.
Juniors primary fundraising event
this year is the Hoedown on
November 14 titled “Bids Bears
Bites”, featuring the band Fog Five
an on-line auction and a raffle with
tickets sold by Canyon Club brew-
pub. Moraga Rotary was a
sponsor of Hoedown last year.
They have started a Book Club that
has already read and reviewed six
books. Juniors gave their first
college scholarship to Kathy Ye.
Last year, Juniors sponsored
Grandparents Day at Moraga
Royale last year (in which some
Moraga Rotarians helped), made
and distributed Comfort Pillows
for recent surgery patients; held a
Holiday Drive where members
would adopt a family for holiday
festivities; have a Spring Egg
Hunt for children at Moraga
Commons; and hold a
Bunco/Holiday party. Most of
these events have been scaled
down or cancelled in 2020.

randomizer computer in the Rotary
bunker had selected Debbie
Roessler for the $50 opportunity.
Brian had even gotten some aces
from Las Vegas to help her win, but
The Queen didn’t guess the proper
suit and the pot is still at $50.
