Hydrology
Shallow water level is observed in the southwestern part of the district while deeper water levels
are observed in the eastern part of the district. The depth to water level during pre monsoon
period in the district ranges from 2.40 to 53.17 mbgl and during post monsoon period, it varies
from 0.69 to 54.02 mbgl according to the data collected in 2012
Depth of ground water in delhi in 2002. in south west part of delhi max. area have depth of water
in the range of 10-20 m. then other part have 5-10m and 20-30m.
In may 2012 the water level is increased in some area as shown in the picture
Ground water is saline at deeper depths. Higher Iron content of 14 mg/l has been reported at
Daulatpur. Higher fluoride content of 2.05 mg/l is observed at Najafgarh. The ph Ievel is in the
range of 8.15-9.38 so the water is little basic in nature .
Soil type
The area is characterized by unconsolidated (loosely arranged) alluvial deposits. The area
comprises of silt and clay mixed with kankar in varying proportions.
Alluvial soil :- Alluvium is typically made up of a variety of materials, including fine particles of
silt and clay and larger particles of sand and gravel. When this loose alluvial material is

Drainage & Waste systems:- The major drainage of the district is Najafgarh Drain. Najafgarh
drain originates from Najafgarh Jheel on Delhi - Haryana Border and meets the River Yamuna.
And the najafgarh drain is only 5 km away from our site so the drainage and waste system is
quite good in this area .
