Dear Senator Ben Cardin,

My name is Shaniya Plummer and I attend at school at Cross Country

Elementary Middle School. I am in 7th grade at Cross Country Elementary
Middle School. I am writing to you to ask that you do not support Donald
Trump in cutting the budget that goes towards the Chesapeake Bay. The
Chesapeake Bay is very important to our community because it serves as a
home for many animals, contains food sources for many animals, and creates
a place for people who visit MD to tour. By funding the Chesapeake Bay this
will help them to improve the Sub Aquatic Vegetation(SAV). If the marine
animals have nowhere to live that leaves the open for predators. The SAV also
serves as a protective nursery for many marine life. The SAV also serves as
food sources and is at the bottom of the food chain, so if the SAV dies
because the Chesapeake Bay is not funded that will cause all the other
species to die. By funding the Chesapeake Bay this will help to keep the Bay
clean and keep excess nutrients out the water. Excess nutrients is bad
because it causes algae bloom (excess algae) and algae sits on the surface of
the water blocking sunlight from reaching the SAV. We love to eat blue crabs
but we won’t be able to if we don’t keep the Bay in good condition because
the SAV serves as a food source and a protection away from predators for
blue crabs. I appreciate your help and ask that you please send me a
response letting me know if you will be able to continue to contribute a budget
to the Chesapeake Bay. Thank you for your time and considering my request.
