4.2 STATIC LOADS

4.2.1 Pump, Motor & BFBP Weight:
Pump Weight, Pp = 5000 kg = 49.05 kN (4188.7 lb)
Pump rotor Weight, Ppr = 202.75 kg = 1.99 kN ( 396.2 lb) + 15% additional
Motor Weight, Pm = 10500 kg = 103.01 kN 5550 lb
Motor rotor Weight, Pmr = 3150.0 kg = 30.90 kN (if no vendor data, assume 30% of motor wt)
= 6944.5 lb
Base Weight of BFP, Pb = 13000 kg = 127.53 kN 5555.6 lb
BP Weight Pbp = kg = 0.00 kN
BP rotor Weight Pbpr = 0 kg = 0.00 kN (if no vendor data, assume 30% of motor wt)
Base Weight of BP, Pbp = 0 kg = 0.00 kN
Other Po = 0 kg = 0.00 kN

Total weight of pump, WP=Pp+ Pm + Pb+Pbp+Pbp+Po = 279.59 kN = 62854 lb

Weight of concrete fill inside the skid Wcf1 = 11.5x 3.5 x 0.5 x 24 = 0 KN
Weight of concrete above ground Wcf2 = 11.5x 3.5 x 0.75 x 24 = 724.5 KN

4.3 FOUNDATION CHECK:

4.3.1 Check for Plinth Size:

Minimum bolt edge distance, Dmin = 150 mm = 0.15 m = 6 in

PSR-01-ST-CAL-002 Appendix A A4 of A17

Minimum edge of skid to concrete,Cmin = 75 mm = 0.075 m = 3 in
Therefore
Min. plinth length required = (2 xDmin)+La+Lm = (2 x 0.15 ) + (0+11.5) = 0.3 m
= ( 2 x C min
) + L s+Lm = (2x0.075 ) + (11.5+11.5) = 11.65 m
Min. plinth length required = Max of the above = 11.65 m < 12 m
Hence O.K

Min. plinth width required = ( 2 x Dmin ) + Wa = ( 2 x 0.15 ) + 0 = 0.3 m

= ( 2 x Cmin ) + Bs = ( 2 x 0.075 ) + 3.5 = 3.65 m
Min. plinth width required = Max of the above = 3.65 m < 4 m
Hence O.K

4.3.2 Check for Foundation Depth:

Min. foundation depth = 0.60 + L/30 ( Where L is greater of length or width in meters )
= 1.000 m < 1.25 m
= 39.370 in < 49.2126 in Hence O.K

4.3.3 Check for Foundation Weight:

Foundation weight should be greater than 3 times the total weight of the pump,
Machine or Pump total weight, WP = 279.59 kN 62.85 kip
Foundation weight, Wf = (12 x 4 x 1.25 x 24 )
= 1440 KN > 3 times the pump weight
= 323.712 kip Hence O.K
4.3.4 Check for Bearnig pressure:

Total Vertical force FY = WP + Wf

= 279.59 + 1440 = 1719.59 KN
= 386.58 kip
Total Vertical force with 50% impact load
= FY + 50% WP
Fyi = 1719.59 + 0.5 x 279.59 = 1859.39 KN
= 418.01 kip
Torque at breakdown condition = 2502.00 lb-ft = 13.23 kNm
(Source assumption… estimated)

Since torque value is not significant following ACI guideline is used conservatively.
Moment due to impact load (i.e.25% of pump weight acting laterally at shaft level)
( As per 5.2 of G-140 WP Guideline)
Total Mom in Long. Direction MX = Mx_I
at Bottom of base = 0.25 x 279.59 x (1.85 + 0.75 + 0.5 ) = 216.68 KNm
Total Mom in Tran. Direction Mz = Mz_I = 159.81 kip.ft

PSR-01-ST-CAL-002 Appendix A A5 of A17

at Bottom of base = 0.25 x 279.59 x (1.85 + 0.75 + 0.5 ) = 216.68 KNm
= 159.81 kip.ft
Maximum Base Pressure PMAX = P / A + MX / ZX
at founding depth below HPP
= (1859.39 / (12 x 4 + 12 x 4 )) + (216.68 x 6 / (12 x 4^2 + 12 x 4^2 ))
= 22.75 KN/m2 < 50 KN/m2 (50% of static SBC)
= 0.47513 kip/ft2 1.04425 kip/ft2 Hence O.K
PMAX = P / A + MZ / ZZ
= (1859.39 / (12 x 4 + 4 x 12 )) + (216.68 x 6 / (4 x 12^2 + 4 x 12^2 ))
= 20.5 KN/m2 < 50 KN/m2 (50% of static SBC)
= 0.42814 kip/ft2 1.04425 kip/ft2 Hence O.K

7.3 SCHECK FOR R.M.S. VELOCITIES FOR VIBRATION SEVERITY:

(Refer to cl. No. 3.10.1 of DEP 34.00.01.30-)

rms velocity = 0.71 x peak value of the velocity

Peak value of the velocity = w x A; where w is the angular velocity in rad / sec
and A is the peak to peak amplitude in micron
mm / sec= 0.71 x w x ( A / 2 / 1000)
therefore, rms velocity

Major has suggested that logarithamic decrement ∇ be taken for concrete as 0.4,
then approximate amplitude become

Assuming 10% damping at resonance , amplitude at resonance shall be 5 times staic deflection under
dynamic loads.
