We use the present simple to talk about actions that happen regularly (routines, habits etc …) or things that are
generally true (facts).

Remember the spelling rules!
Verbs that end in 'y' often change 'y' to 'ie' before 's':
● study → studies
● fly → flies
● cry → cries
(Be careful! 'y' doesn't change to 'ie' if the ending is 'ay', 'ey', 'oy', 'uy'. Play → plays, say → says)
Verbs that end in 's', 'o', 'sh', 'ch' or 'x' often add 'e' before 's':
● pass → passes
● wash → washes
● teach → teaches
● go → goes
Have is irregular. Have → has
‘To be’ is a special verb. It doesn’t use auxiliaries. It is also irregular.

We use the present simple for things that happen regularly, things that are generally true and with verbs like
‘love’, ‘like’, ‘hate’ and ‘need’ (nonaction verbs).
