SINGLE DRUM DRYERS WITH APPLICATOR ROLLS Drum Dryer
The drum dryer with applicator rolls has been specially developed for the dehydration of

The product is fed into the valley between the first applicator roll and either a contra-rotating roll
or a plate. The product is drawn between the nip of the main roll and the first applicator roll thus
applying a film to the main drying roll.

Excess product is removed from the first applicator roll by means of a scraper creating a further
'sausage' of material between the first and second applicator rolls. This again is drawn into the nip of the
main roll and the second applicator roll, further increasing the thickness on the main drum, the whole
process being repeated with further applicator rolls. Moisture is evaporated from the Benefits

The oldest design of drum dryer is still widely used throughout the food and Technology

to concentrate the feed liquid using a filter press, centrifuge or 2
evaporator, in order to reduce the initial water content.

Concentrating the liquid in this manner means that smaller dryers
