Abstract. This study aims to obtain a description of the profile of students 'ability in solving
problems and metacognition of students by using Rasch analysis, this study is considered
important as a preliminary study to find ways to improve students' ability in solving problems
through students metacognition knowledge. This descriptive study uses a population of class
XII students who have studied the eyes of effort and energy with the number of 180 students
with sample through side random custer, which amounted to 28 people sekwa. The problem
solving skill refers to the rubrics developed by Doctor et al. (2016), and the observed
metagonitical knowledge refers to a rubric developed by Taasoobshirazi, et al (2015). The
results showed that most students have not used systematic steps in solving the problem. Some
metacognitive knowledge is congruent with planning, information management and conceptual
knowledge needs to be improved to support problem-solving skills
