Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

Implementing the what we are learning. Using different colors for each branch allows for separation of each
branch of government. Those who struggle with organization can understand that each color means
something new. Trying to implement with English Language Learners is a bit more difficult because it is all in
English, but the use of simple words makes understanding somewhat easier

Lesson idea implementation:

As students begin to learn about the country they live in, they must also learn about the government that
helps run their country. All the aspects that create the foundation and the many people that it is made up of.
Focusing on the three branches of government (executive, judicial, and legislative), we delve into what makes
up each branch. We also learn about each job that the branches have. Students will first read a chapter on
the branches of government to bring in the new lesson. This specific chapter should last about a week. To
make sure information was absorbed and learned, each student will create their own Bubbl about the three
branches.
To extend the students to higher learning, I will push them to recall information later in the week that they
learned about and possibly names of leaders. Most likely in a testing assessment. This way I can give each
student feedback on their project as well as their formal test. This will conclude the lesson and we will move
into the next chapter about other types of governments.

Reflective Practice:
I think this lesson will allow students to learn new information about the government they live in and
expand their knowledge about the world around them. It may lead to wanting to know more about their
government and others. I designed this lesson as a week-long lesson into social studies. I could add
PowerPoints and integrate other BPTs
