While I was at Forest Glade, I decided that I would implement a French Tutor club (during the

month of November to December). This was open everyone in grade 4-8. The reason why I
decided to do this is because I found that there was a significant amount of students who were
struggling in French, but there was nothing in place to help them, thus, I started a French tutor
club. Each grade was catered to a different grade. I did this because students would be intimated
if the older students were coming as well, and they are more comfortable coming with their
friends in their class. I found that the younger kids were more interested in coming and in
learning more French, but the older students, intermediates, were more embarrassed to come out.
One way to resolve this is to call it “French Café”. This title is much more inviting and would
encourage more intermediate students to come out and get extra help.

During the month of March and April I offered my homeroom grade 5’s a tutor club. Students
come out and got help in Math, Science, and Literacy. I found that there were very few students
who came, however, those who came took a lot from the tutor club and did very well on their
tests and assignments.
