To Whom It May Concern,

Re: Narishta Luchmun

This letter is in support of Narishta Luchmun, a pre-service teacher in the Faculty of Education at the
University of Windsor.

Narishta is in her final semester of a 2-year consecutive program, which will award her a Bachelor of
Education (Junior/Intermediate) to supplement the Bachelor of Arts in French Studies, which she
earned in 2016. Ms. Luchmun has maintained good standing throughout her entire program and
presently holds an excellent cumulative average of over 87%. Her teachable subject is French and, as
part of her BA degree, she has dual minors in Biology and Chemistry. Narishta has gained practicum
experience teaching French as a Second language (FSL) to children in grades 4-8 at Forest Glade
Public School in Windsor. At this same high school she also participated in a unique service-learning
course called Leadership Experience Academic Direction (LEAD), which aims to help pre-service
teachers gain a better understaning of 21st century youth identified as “in-risk”. Ms. Luchmun has also
has had a very successful practicum experience at Queen Victoria Public School.

Narishta’s commitment to continued professional learning is evident in her participation in Power of

Potential work with high school students and in the Living on the Edge Poverty Simulation event. She
has also taken leadership roles in organizing a social justice conference and the annual end-of-year
Gala event, both in the Faculty of Education. Ms. Luchmun currently holds the position of
Junior/Intermediate Pre-Service Student Representative on Faculty Council and her contributions to
these monthly meetings have consistently been thoughtful, professional, and much valued. It has been
a great privilege to have been able to work with Narishta since my appointment to the position of Dean
in July of 2017.

Narishta has excellent communication skills, is an especially strong team-player and mentor, and is
multilingual (English, Creole, French, and Hindi). In my opinion, Ms. Luchmun is a wonderful and
caring individual destined to become an excellent teacher. I recommend her enthusiastically for
employment with any school board. If you have any queries, please contact me at your earliest
convenience.

Sincerely,

Ken Montgomery, Ph.D.
