How do we recognise the contribution heritage makes to our contemporary urban and regional landscapes,
the well-being of our communities and our economy? Join the National Trust and Australia ICOMOS on April
18, International Day for Monuments and Sites, for a discussion panel that will examine the evolving field of
heritage in Victoria, recognising the increasing interdisciplinary nature of the heritage profession and emerging
practitioners. Drawing on current movements that demonstrate how communities value heritage places and
considering the role of heritage in underpinning place-making in our urban and regional centres, this event will
reflect on the priorities of the heritage profession and the role of the next generation as we move further into
the 21st century.

National Trust Anderson’s Mill Heritage Weekend
Anderson’s Mill Heritage Weekend Inc.
Smeaton comes alive with a weekend of heritage, crafts, machinery, and classic trades. The Mills on the Air Amateur
Radio Group will have a collection of radios and transmitters on display, while a large array of vintage engines, tractors,
and machinery will be operational, with demonstrations and the chance to learn more from experts. Goldfields quilts
and spinners will also be on hand demonstrating their skills, along with an exhibition of craft work, including dolls house
rooms and miniatures. Visitors can observe stoneground organic flour being milled, and have the opportunity to explore
the heritage mill with local tour guides. The weekend will also feature daily Asking for Trouble circus performances and
workshops for children. In the evenings, Anderson’s Mill will be lit up with Now You See It video projections, with music
by Video Architecture. This event is part of the Regional Centre for Culture, a year’s celebration of the four Victorian
centres of Bendigo, Daylesford, Castlemaine, and Maryborough.
