Elicit (15 minutes)
mechanical digestion in preparation to chemical digestion
At the start of the lesson, the teacher will discuss the parts under Mechanical Digestion:
Mouth ( Lips, Teeth, parotid gland, sublingual gland, submaxillary gland and tongue) through
a lecture
Engage(10 minutes)
The Teacher will remind the students to bring food on the class and ask a representative to
demonstrate in front the process under Mechanical Digestion and have others do the same
on their seats

Explore (10 minutes)


After enjoying the food, The Teacher will let the students explain their observations about
their experience about mechanical digestion and to share other opinions and own scientific
queries through recitation

Explain (10 minutes)


The teacher will gather ideas about the students experiences base from knowledge
assimilated from past discussions about the Mechanical process of digestion and assign
one representative about the logical sequence of the processes of mechanical digestion
works

Elaborate (10 minutes)


Pose a question to the students about the similarities that of their prediction about the last
process after Mechanical Digestion:What do you think will happen on the chewed food after
it exits from the esophageal sphincter? How will you give its similarities and functions with
epiglottis?

What are your predictions about the occurences inside the stomach?

Extend (10 minutes)


Given a Seatwork: Write in 1 or more paragraph and generate their own idea about the great
importance of the parts under Mechanical Digestion ( Mouth Lips, Teeth, parotid gland,
sublingual gland, submaxillary gland and tongue) in preparation to
