Tree project

Why deforestation is important.
● 18 million acres(size of Panama) is lost each year
● Estimated of 15% of all greenhouse gas emissions come from deforestation
● Decreases the amount of habitats and oxygen
● Releases more CO2
● Eventually will kill us all
Why is this an issue?
● Creates negative impact on environment
● Loss of habitat for millions of species
● 80% of Earth’s land and animals live in forests, and cannot survive if
deforestation is occured
● Some even cut down trees illegally just to create paper or build railroads
● Some are not intentional---causes of wildfires
● Also drives climate change
● Trees help perpetuate the water cycle by returning water vapor to the
atmosphere
How often? How do we stay successful?
● 2 trees a day for a month
● Water them 2-3 times a week
● A pallet of fertilizer
● Gather support to get help from others
Solutions
● Plant trees in previously deforested location
● Planting new trees will reduce carbon in the atmosphere
● Will increase oxygen level as well.
Why trees?
● In the Carbon Cycle, photosynthesis occurs
1. Photosynthesis- natural process that
happens when trees and plants use energy
from the sun
2. Also using carbon dioxide from the air to
make energy which builds the trees mass.
● Provides most of the oxygen that animals and
human breathe.

environment so
we’re not as sad
as this koala! →
