“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it

make some difference that you have lived and lived well” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

A simple program, with the purpose of giving joy to the kids of Brgy. 128 Balut, Tondo Manila, is definitely
one of the things that we will cherish in our lives. And having this kind of opportunity to bond with them in a short
period of time is totally an honor and an eye-opener to us.

As we arrived on the venue of the outreach program, we can see the excitement on the face of the kids,
seeing us, as their own Ate’s and Kuya’s that they can play, share stories with on that day. Seeing them and hearing
them say thank you for our simple gifts makes me happy and inspired that day.

During our stay in their barangay, seeing their environment and how unprivileged they are made me
realized how lucky I am as a person. With this, I also learned to appreciate simple things around me and be grateful
on what I have, especially to my parents who are always there behind me, giving all their best to give me a better
future. The outreach program made me realized that even our own simple thoughts we will be able to help and give
joy to others. We could make a meaningful day by doing good deeds for other people by having its purest intention.
