NARRATIVE REPORT OF THE OUTREACH PROGRAM

In my life I have learned that true happiness comes from giving. Helping
others along the way makes you evaluate who you are. Being able to help is
a privilege for us students and teachers as well for it teaches us how to
become concerned to those who are in need, it helps us to understand the
spirit of compassion and to share what we have to and abolish the selfishness
hidden deep within us. As part of my of requirement in my class in master’s
degree we conducted an Outreach Program in Amor Village located in Anao,
Tarlac last May 12, 2018.

Simple program was organized by responsible students of the class majored

in Special Education. The program started with a prayer, sking God's
presence in the event and followed by Welcome Address from one of the
staff of the Amor Village and followed by a short but meaningful message
from our ever loving and supportive professor Mrs. Perla Delos Santos. We
brought prizes and candies for the children with exceptionalities. We also
organized games for the children to enjoy and art activities. Aside from that
we gave them school materials and other essential things. At 12 o'clock in
the afternoon, everyone wears a big smile in their faces as we ended the
program. I love children. That is why I enjoyed the half-day outreach
program especially dedicated to the children with exceptionalities of Amor
Village. I realized how an experience could be extraordinary by simply being
with those children and making them happy even for a while. I became
inspired to persevere more in life so that I can be a big help for them.It was
very fulfilling that in our own simple ways; we were able to help and made
the children with exceptionalities feel that some people care for them
through an outreach program. Even though it only lasted for a day, the
laughter we shared would always remain in my heart. It was neither the food
nor the games we played nor the beautiful prizes that made the outreach
program memorable but the priceless smiles in every child’s face which made
it more valuable. Seeing those smiles made me realize that the program was
a success, worth-doing.

Given the chance to interact with the children with exceptionalities in the
said village is a privilege. I feel so honoured that I can talk with them, dance
with the, sing with them, color with them and share laughters. It gives me
an additional learning in life. I have learned through them that happiness
and contentment are choices.

After the outreach program, I have realized that people can search for their
happiness, but me, I didn’t search it, and I just enjoy what I am doing and
that gives happiness to me. I would never forget the look on their faces after
the outreach program, they bid us good bye with big smiles and with heart-
warming "Thank You".
