“Taking the opportunity to help the community”

During the RAK, I take part in teaching young students through fun games in a
school in Brgy. Tangob, Padre Garcia Batangas as I feel that I am actually making a
difference to each students by encouraging them to study well and perhaps be inspired
to do random acts of kindness since we advised them about RAK in our NSTP course. I
also take part in interviewing some elderly in the barangay which we did talk about their
job as a seamstress and gave them a simple token for their merienda. Also, I take part
in making kids happy through games wherein music was playing, simple tokens/prizes
were being given out, snacks were being crammed into their little mouths, smiles on all
of their faces. It felt so good to give these little children a treats, because one of the
main goals I have set for myself is to do everything and anything possible to help
others, with every chance I get. In this activity, I realize that the gift of time is often more
valuable to the receiver and more satisfying for the giver than the gift of money. We
don’t all have the same amount of money, but we all do have time on our hands, and
can give some of this time to help others whether that means we devote our lifetimes to
service, or just give a few hours in helping the community of Brgy. Tangob. The
important points that I’ve learned is that through random acts of kindness is a way to
gain a lot of skills that can be transferred into a community, these skills includes
confidence, communication, responsibility, teamwork and innovation. Being part of this
activity, provides me with experience which is great for personal gain, but it will also be
a good addition to my education as a college student which will help me to stand out, as
it has allowed me to meet new people and take more opportunities to help them. Most
importantly, from the activity, the community will gain a sense of personal satisfaction
gained by assisting another person which will enhance their social awareness. Lastly, I
realized that being part of this activity, my main role of helping others will also gain a
generation of young people and adults who care about where they live and are willing
to make a commitment to improve their community and the society.
