General Meeting

August 7,2018

Sherry Halls, President called meeting to order at: 7pm

Members Attending: Sherry Halls, Joanne Kirkland, Willie McAuley, Val Merritt, Kassandra
Merritt, Niels & Maureen Nielsen, Joyce Magnussen, Art Kaehn, Cliff Halls

Adoption of Agenda: Motion made to accept agenda by Niels Nielsen. Seconded by Maureen
Nielsen. Discussion. All in favor. Carried.

Adoption of minutes from: July 3rd,2018. Discussion. Motion made by Niels Nielsen to accept
minutes. Seconded by Maureen Nielsen. Carried.

Treasurers Report:

 Pat Suter not present.

 Discussion.
o $2,000 donation came from Enbridge for use of hall, for association.
 Motion to accept treasurers report by Joanne Kirkland. Seconded by Cliff Halls. All in
favor. Carried.

Old Business:

 Grass Cutting
o Keep putting up the notice that the hall will pay for the gas.
o Cliff Halls, Niels Nielsen and Willie McAuley will help before the Fall Fair.
 Water System Repair
o Nothing new has been done yet.
o Niels Nielsen will talk with Lisa Wellington about getting it repaired and will
report back at next meeting in September of 2018.
o Art Kaehn said splitter will need to come off before winter but keep it on as long
as possible.
 Concession Repairs
o Wheel Chair Ramp
 Has been redone by Joanne Kirkland, her son Kevin and Cliff Halls.
 o Painting of Wheel Chair Ramp
 Hope to have done definitely before Fall Fair.
o Ceiling Boards
 Maureen Nielsen and Sherry Halls painted the ceiling boards. Mike
(Christina Marshal’s son) & Cliff Halls put them up.
 Endowment Fund Grant
o Picnic Tables still need to be constructed and painted.
o Gravel Delivery: Put by the outhouses this coming Saturday by Gerald Thompson.
Each load is 10 yards. $250 per load and we are getting 2 loads.
o 3 benches have been delivered.
o Possible that we could have enough left to get another picnic table.
 Motion by Joyce Magnussen to accept the old business reports. Seconded by Willie
McAuley. All in favor. Accepted.

 Committee Reports:
 Hixon Hill Riders: Joanne Kirkland
o Enbridge will be sending a check. They gave glowing reports, best place they
have done.
o Looking toward the horse show.
o Possible another show in September.
 Hixon Car Show
o Willie McAuley says it’s been going really well.
o He needs a bike judge.
o Donations are under control.
o He needs volunteers
 Building Committee
o Light bulbs/florescent lights
 Niels Nielsen needs a different size of florescent bulb for in the bar. Willie
McAuley will help with it.
o Plant hangers
 Have been bought by Sherry Halls.
 Need to be put up.
o Calendar board
 Kassandra Merritt said she is still investigating.
 She needs to know the specific size wanted. Sherry Halls will let her
know.
o Brake Cleaner Spray will kill hornets/nests said Willie McAuley.
 Fall Fair Committee
o Next meeting is next Tuesday at 6pm. The final one.
 Motion to adopt Committee Community reports made by Joanne Kirkland. Seconded by
Willie McAuley. All in favor. Accepted.
New Business:

 Grant funding for Hixon Falls

o Art Kaehn said they could only get a reduction in cost.
o Floyd Jackson will bring the stringers
o Jim Broadhead has been working with Art Kaehn.
o Art Kaehn asked if grant could be put through the hall. $1,000 Art Kaehn felt
should do it.
 Maureen Nielsen motioned that the Hixon Community Association will
apply for a grant to do repairs at the Hixon Falls bridge. Seconded by Cliff
Halls. All in favor. Carried.
o Possibility of a culvert and an outhouse for up there too stated Art Kaehn. Could
need money then for that as well but it would be for next year.
 Knowledge Network letter
o Art Kaehn spoke to it. He wouldn’t worry about it for a year. $20,000 is the cost.
o Art Kaehn will follow it up.
 Cleaning of debris out of creek
o Joyce Magnussen brought it up.
o Trees are down, logs, junk. It is on Lake Creek Rd.
o Art Kaehn said that it is a Salmon run creek. It is very difficult to do anything on
one.
 Cooler Repair
o Double glass door cooler keeps defrosting.
o Could be the doors off their tracks said Val Merritt, as they were off recently.
o Niels Nielsen will check it tomorrow.
o Quotes are needed said Sherry Halls.
o Kassandra Merritt said the people at Shoppers had someone come in. Niels
Nielsen will check into it.
 Bluegrass Request for 2019
o The vote was that it should be the same as last year.
