Animal game sketch
Warm up
• Tell the children they are going to watch a sketch about
animals. Say Name an animal whose name begins with b
... (bear).
• Invite different children to answer. Continue with the game
until the children have identified most of the animals on the
worksheet.
Watch and answer.
• Say Let’s watch the DVD. Answer the questions. Write the
questions on the board for the children to answer as they
watch:
Who wants to play the game?
Who wants to watch a DVD?
What activity do they do?
• Play the DVD. Check the answers with the children.

1 Watch and circle.
• Hold up the worksheet. Ask the children to watch the
DVD and circle the name of each animal when they see it.
• Play the DVD. Pause the DVD whenever you see an
animal, to give the children time to circle its name on their
worksheet. Check the answers with the children.

2a Read and match.
• Hold up the worksheet. The children match the words to
the pictures.
• Check the answers with the class.

2b Watch and complete the sentences.
• Hold up the worksheet. Ask the children to watch and
complete the sentences.
• Play the DVD. Press pause whenever the characters ask
and answer about food to give them time to complete the
sentence.

eat fish.
2c Make the sentences.
• Hold up the worksheet. Ask the children to order the
words to make sentences. Ask the children to make some
more food sentences.

• 2 Whales don’t eat fruit.
And finally ...
• In pairs or groups, children ask and answer questions about
the animals. Student A says a sentence, for example, Gorillas
eat fish. Student B answers Yes, they do. or No, they don't.
DVD Project
• Here’s an idea for an extra activity. The children can
create an information sheet about an animal in the
sketch.
• Give each child a piece of A4 paper. First they draw the
animal, then write sentences about it.
• Finally they can compare the information with their
classmates and ask and answer questions, for example,
Do (gorillas) eat fruit? Yes, they do.

CLIL Australian animals 2 Circle. Watch and check.

Warm up
• Ask the children to name animals that live in Australia. Write
each animal’s name on the board.
• Say Let’s play Guess the animal. Say a clue about an
animal and the children have to say its name, for example, It
hops. (kangaroo)
• Hold up the worksheet. Ask the children to circle the
correct information about the saltwater crocodile. Then they
check their answers by watching the DVD.
• Play the DVD. Children watch and check their answers.
