Crack Details

The DSN report report to


the right. The cracks along
the slew ring support plate
can be repaired as
described in CRM-187079-
X3M5 (uploaded to this
DSN ticket). The real
problem is the crack on the
superstructure wall
(highlighted).

1st remove all the internal


plates shown below in red.

will have to be completely
gouged out. If it has
propagated to the deck
plate or one of the internal
ribs please notify otherwise.

Repair Guideline

In this case the objective is to gouge the crack out in such a way that it will be
possible to get a backing plate positioned in the hole. This will improved the
quality of the weld significantly.

After removing the internal plates as shown in slide 3 repair the crack in the
superstructure wall.

Next repair the outer support as outlined in CRM-187079-X3M5
