ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Firstly, we would like to thank to our lecturer, En. Syamsul Anuar bin Abu Kasim
for guiding us in completing this practical. Thanks to the group members for helping and
showing a great cooperation in team. Thanks also to the group members for preparing this
report. Through this practical, many knowledge that we improved and learned especially to
improve our skill in handling this practical. Thankful that we had prepared this report with
the guidance of our beloved lecturer.

INTRODUCTION
Leveling is the relative heights (altitudes) of the different points in the area under survey, it
is the information which, when coupled with that of the pan, enables a section through the
land and/or artifacts to be drawn.
The primary reference at leveling recording stations is a set of stable bench-marks, installed
in locations where their lever should not change. Upon initial set-up of a station, the levels of
the relevant parts of the installation are established and recorded by means of accurate
leveling.
Leveling and surveying methods are also used for measurements of river channel and lake
configurations. Often, less accurate methods can be used for this work than for water-level
recording stations, although the techniques are common.

PROCEDURE
Booking levels
1. Back sight , intermediate sight and foresight readings are entered in the appropriate
columns on different lines. However, as shown in the table above back sights and fore
sights are place on the same line if the level instrument is changed.
2. The first reduced level is the height of the datum, benchmark or R.L.
3. If foresight is smaller than the immediately preceding staff reading then the
difference between the two readings is place in the rise column.
4. If foresight is larger than the immediately preceding staff reading then the difference
between the two readings is place in the fall column.
5. A rise is added to the preceding reduced level (RL) and a fall is subtracted from the
preceding RL.

COMMENT
First of all, I want to thank to our lecturer and my group member for helping in this practical.
Although I was so grateful because this report is already done but there were many problem
in handling this practical especially at the site. One of the problem is when there is cars that
block our station of traverse. For the equipment problem, to avoid it we need to make sure the
measuring equipment like the total station and the prism is in good condition before doing
outside work. So that it will be easier to obtained accurate data and minimize the error. I will
also aware of the data recording. Once we get the data we need record it in fieldwork book
correctly and make sure to double check it. I hope that my skill will improved through this
practical.
We can prepare this precise level measurement for the cedar even though there are few
problems encountered. The problem that we face throughout carrying out this level measure
is the stability of the staff who always need to be monitored to prepare these level measuring
work. what is shown allows us to resolve the problem with its prominence. In my view, the
level of levelling is done to get the difference between two points by setting up a bench mark
and a temporary bench mark to start a construction project. In the grading measure there are
two types of measurements that I know of TGK method with the method of fluctuation.we
used the calculation of the fluctuation method to facilitate calculation work because for me
the method of fluctuation is easier to calculate than the TGK method.

Nurul Norsah Azaina bt Abdullah
Assalamualaikum and my gratitude to Encik Syamsul Anuar bin Abu Kasim for giving us
guidance during the learning process to do levelling and had a much time with us to get the
opportunity to get the right results and the right data. As long as I was doing the check-out at
Polytechnic Tuanku Sultanah Bahiyah (PTSB), I was able to do fieldwork more efficiently
and regularly. Along with me and the group members work in completing the task
successfully in the given period. Despite the various problems faced during the measurement
work but I and the group members managed to overcome all these obstacles as an example,
obstruction by vehicles that made it difficult for observation work.

CONCLUSION
We also learn to calculate the calculation by using Rise and Fall Method and Height of
Collimation Method. After the table and data collected is recorded down, we found that we
have error. Thus, there must be a loop misclosure error. Although we had some loop
misclosure mistakes during our calculations, we learn to correct it by using method that been
taught in class. After we got our loop misclosure error, we calculate the correction per set up
and adjust the initial reduced level to get the final reduced level.
In a nutshell, we really thanks to our lecturer En. Syamsul Anuar bin Abu Kasim for
guiding us in this practical. We hope that next time we can have a chance to conduct a survey
without error.
