III. PROCEDURE

Teacher's Activity Pupils' Activity

A. Preliminaries
1. Prayer
2. Greeting
3. Checking of attendance
4. Checking of Assignments
5. Review
What was your last discussion Our last discussion yesterday was all about
yesterday? viscosity wherein we had our activity which is
entitled Viscously Race.
Very good!
You may sit down. Thank you ma'am!

4. Motivation
Have you seen a fountain class? Yes ma'am!
What are some fountain that you have Chocolate fountain, water fountain and
seen? Will you name one? firecracker fountain.
Are they pretty class?

I am holding a picture of a fountain. I Yes ma'am!

want you give a short description to this
picture.
Anyone?

It is something that is sent up to the air and falls

What else? back.

Something that is forced up and falls back to

Can you think of a landform that you the ground.
can compare to a fountain? A fountain is compared to a volcano.
Very good!
It is being compared to a volcano because
of its appearance.

B. Developmental Activity
Can you name some volcanoes that you
know in the Philippines?
Where can you find them? Mount Mayon in Albay
Have you seen them erupt? Taal volcano in Batangas
How does it look like when it erupts? Mount Pinatubo in Zambales

Excellent! You may take your sit. It emits gasses and smoke into the air, it has a
mudflow of lava.

1. Presentation Thank you ma'am!

(Present the picture of volcanic cones)
What do you observe on the picture that
I have placed in the board?

2. Lesson proper
This morning we are going to discuss It is a volcanoes ma'am that has different shape
about the three types of volcanoes and size.
namely: Composite, Cinder and Shield
volcano.
Who can define composite volcano
based on the picture I have placed on the
board?

Very good!
As you can see the three volcanoes have
different feature or appearance. Among Composite volcano is taller than the other types
the three the composite volcano is taller volcanoes.
and seems to be neay perfect volcano.
Composite volcano is also known as
stratovolcano-is a large nearly perfect
slope structure formed from alternate
solidification of both lava and pyroclastic
deposits. One perfect example of this
type is the Mayon volcano in Albay that
just recently erupted last month.

Clarification class?
Pyroclastics these are debris coming out
from a volcano when it erupts.

Who can define or describe the next type

of volcano?

What is pyroclastic ma'am?

One example of cinder volcano is the

Paricutin volcano in Mexico.
Question class?
Cinder volcanoes are built from ejected lava
Lastly we have Shield volcano. Shield fragments. They have a steep slope, wide
volcanoes are formed by the crater and are most abundant of the three
accumulation of lava that oozes out from major types of volcano.
a volcano. Since non-viscous lava can
flow freely, a broad, slightly domed
structure that resembles a warriors shield None ma'am!
is formed. Example of this volcano is the
Mauna Volcano in Hawaii.

Any question or clarification class before

we proceed to our activity?
Is everything clear?

a. Activity
Yesterday I ask you to bring a bond
paper and colored pens or crayons. Now,
I want you to get all of those silently and
draw the three different types of volcano None maam!
and label each types with a brief
description also. Yes ma'am!
In 30 minutes I am going to collect your
works. Do it individually and strictly no
cheating.
Do I make myself clear class?

b. Analysis
We can easily classify or identify the
different types of volcano by merely
looking at their structure. If it is perfectly
shaped like a cone then it is a composite
volcano. If it has narrow bas it is a cinder
volcano while shield volcano if it looks
like a shield of a warrior. Yes ma'am!

c. Abstraction
Although volcanologist have different
basis for classifying volcanoes, one way
to classify them is by their cones.
Composite volcano is formed from
alternate solidification of both lava and
pyroclastic flow. Cinder volcano is
characterized by narrow base and steep
slope. Shield volcano is formed by
accumulation of lava resulting in a broad
slightly domed structure.

d. Application
Give a positive and negative effect of
volcanic eruption to the human.

IV. ASSESSMENT
1. What are the 3 types of volcano?
2. A type of volcano that is also known
as stratovolcano.
3. A type of volcano that has a narrow
base and steep slope.
4. In 3 sentences differentiate the three
types of volcano.
5. Explain how does volcanic eruptions
affect our daily lives.

V. ASSIGNMENT
1. Do a research about the parts of a
volcano and define each parts.
