Brief/Rationale-
Brief- We have been issued a task to create a 3-5 minute short film based on our choice of genre and
narrative we are being marked on our techniques we performed in LO2 as we have to include our
learned techniques for our specialism, which we are getting marked on (Editing is my specialism)
Basic idea- using anxiety symptoms (sound effects) to make a viewer feel unnerved. I will be
showing a short filming of subject on the build-up of feeling anxious and them trying to leave a
situation.
Idea- this short film is going to be based at college this will begin with a montage of the college. It’s
going to be about a youth member who is a student (female or male) called (Jay or Jess) listening to
music walking up to college. This production is about a youth having a build up to a panic attack, I
am going to use sound effects to create an uncomfortable atmosphere this is going to be a thriller
genre film. I am creating this to try and use the editing techniques I have learned to create an
uncomfortable atmosphere around the short movie this is to give a viewer insight into how it feels to
have this intense feeling. This is a simple idea with a lot depth. The will begin with a character
walking to college transition to the build-up of the panic attack, end with them having a panic attack
and an awareness message.
Rationale-
Cut to the beat- show the character’s intro, them with headphones in, have what their listening to
synced to what they’re doing this will be cut off by rapid heartbeat taking over which will transition
the production on.
Montage- to show where the short movie is based (so college) this will have related music to create
an atmosphere, this will tell the viewer what the movie is about.
Action cut- use this technique to display the character trying to leave the situation this will show an
invisible transition of them moving locations/rooms.
Colour Grading- use colour grading to display the tone of the short movie, this will tell the viewer
what genre the short film is.
