Reverse power test procedure.

The purpose of this procedure is to be able to test the reverse power protection in a controlled and safe way.

The way to trigger the reverse power is to invert the speed commands to the engine. This can be done by
changing the SpeedRegChar (Speed Regulation Characteristics) from “positive” to “negative”. As soon as the
generator is synchronized, the control state is changed to “soft load” before it is “loaded” (Loadsharing). During
the “soft load” state the controller will send “speed up” signal to the engine by CAN bus. By changing the above
mentioned parameter from “positive” to “negative” this will be virtually changed into a “speed down” signal.

DON’T FORGET TO CHECK THAT THE PARAMETER IS SET TO “POSITIVE” AFTER THE TEST!!

The generator must be in manual and running with the breaker open.

Go to >Menu>Sync/Load ctrl>SpeedRegChar. Original value is “positive”.

Press “Enter” and “ ↑ ”

Now it is shown “negative”. DO NOT PRESS ENTER!!!!

Press the 1/0 breaker button. The LED above the button starts flashing which means that it is synchronizing.

As soon as the LED is steady yellow press “Enter”.

The SpeedRegChar is now set “Negative” and the load of the generator will decrease.

The setpoint for reverse power is 10% 0,2 second.

After this is reached the genset will give a level 2 alarm (BOC Reverse Power) which will open the breaker and
force the generator in cooldown.

When the breaker is opened the “SpeedRegChar” setpoint have to set to the original “positive” value.
