CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

1.1 Introduction
To make low cost and easy to use wood cutter machine people take long time to cut
the wood by the axe so our purpose is to short the time of cutting wood and the effort

1.2 Problem Statement

Shredding wood is a important process of comprising wood sheet by pressing the sheet
use geek. The main problem is the size of the shredder wood it should be fixed and
known
1.3 Motivation
Most of the ways that used to cut the wood are traditional and one of thes ways is Axe.
This tool needs physical strength to use it and this may affect on our healath in the
future. it has some risks and less safe during use . Also, this kind of tools will going to
cost the human a lot by wasting their time and the work performance is very low.
However with our machine will going to a void all this issues because it is Highly
efficient , accurate and fast working and our logo is safe first .
1.4 Objectives
Develop and Construct the Technical Feasibility of a Low Cost power, and
reduced the size of wood
1.5 Scope and limitations
Scope:
 In the restaurant
 In the desert
 In camps
 In farms
 Can cut wood 10 cm
 Cuts the cooking wood
 Can work 24 hours.
Limitations:
 Can’t cut wood more than 10 cm
 Can’t cut Iron and plastic

CHAPTER 2: LITERATURE REVIEW AND
THEORITICAL BACKGROUND

2.1 Background of study and survey of existing solutions

.
The earth created with many type of energy and human started to develop those energy, and they
continues developer it day by day.

the developer aim to find the proper way to do the process faster , quicker and with low Operation cost
.
Also industries in rest a huge amount of money on new technology to do the operations ( fast, quick,
and low Operations cost )
We have Enhanced conceptual model of Machine which could be able to perform different operation
with more economical efficiency , also this machine can be used in place where the electricity is limited
. And it is easy to hand and move from place to other place and it doesn't require any fuel . It can do
cut wood

2.2 Comparative study

There is two methods of cutting wood cutting live wood and cutting dead wood cutting
Live wood will get you many wood but you need to dry it and in oman is illegal
to cut live wood the only method of cutting wood is to cut adead wood and it will be
already dry butyou will not get a lot of quantity .

2.3 Highlights of proposed solution

The proposed design of our wood cutting machine is a simple one it can
be operated by hand and mechanical process we can put a cutting edge in
the end of the machine and the Jack wall push the wood towards the
cutting edge or we can use electric motor to speed up the process we
decided to put electrical motor in our project

-3-
2.4 Theoretical background

2.4.1 wood

wood is the most imprtant thing in our life . ther is so

meny types of wood the famuse of them are soft and
solid wood . People use wood as fuel, coal-fired, and
also used for shipbuilding, weapons, houses, gear, and
agricultural tools . One of the most important natural
sources of wood is trees, which are essential components
of life because they give us oxygen. Because of this
people should save the trees to git good life in future .

2.4.2 Methods of Wood cutting machine

:
Direct method
We cat the wood into small parts by using fuse , than we collected it and burn it until
the coal is formed .we remove the O2 so that the coal dose not burn it silf and this is
sticking the soil or water to the charcoal.

Indirect method
The wood is cutting in simple way to which is putting the wood pice between the
jacks and the electric motor. The jake drives will going to push the wood to the
electric motor, which is connected to the Piece sharp and It will cuts the wood into
two halves where it is easy for the user to turn it into coal.

-4-
2.4.3 Advantages Wood cutting machine
 Low operating time
 Power consumption is less
 Maintenance cost is less
 Maintenance cost is less
 Cut a large amount of wood in a short time
 Finish your work Earle
 It is more sifting .

 Types of wood

OAK: OAK: Oak is the most widely used hardwood. There

are more than 60 species of oak grown in the U.S., which
can be separated into two basic varieties; white and red.
The red variety is also known as black oak (a reference to
its bark).

Properties: Oak is a heavy, strong, light colored

hardwood. It is ring porous, due to the fact that more and
larger conductive vessels are laid down early in the
summer, rather than later. Prominent rings and large
pores give oak a course texture and prominent grain. Oak
also has conspicuous medullary rays which can be seen
as "flakes" in quarter sawed oak lumber.

Figure 1: OAK

-5-
MAPLE: There are 115 species of maple. Only 5
commercially important species grow in the U.S. Two of
the five are hard rock maple and sugar maple.

Properties: Maple is so hard and resistant to shocks that

it is often used for bowling alley floors. Its diffuse evenly
sized pores give the wood a fine texture and even grain.
Maple that has a curly grain is often used for violin backs
(the pattern formed is known as fiddleback figure).
Burls, leaf figure, and birds-eye figures found in maple
are used extensively for veneers. The Birds eye figure in
maple is said to be the result of stunted growth and is
quite rare.

Figure 1.2 : MAPLE

SOFTWOODS
PINE: Pine is a softwood which grows in most areas of the Northern
Hemisphere. There are more than 100 species worldwide.

Properties: Pine is a soft, white or pale yellow wood which is light weight,
straight grained and lacks figure. It resists shrinking and swelling. Knotty pine is
often used for decorative effect.

Uses: Pine is often used for country or provincial furniture. Pickled, whitened,
painted and oil finishes are often used on this wood.

-6-
Figure 1.2.1 : PINE

ASH: There are 16 species of ash which grow in the eastern United States. Of
these, the white ash is the largest and most commercially important.

Properties: Ash is a hard, heavy, ring porous hardwood. It has a prominent grain
that resembles oak, and a white to light brown color. Ash can be differentiated
from hickory (pecan) which it also resembles, by white dots in the darker
summerwood which can be seen with the naked eye. Ash burls have a twisted,
interwoven figure.

Uses: Ash is widely used for structural frames and steam bent furniture pieces.
It is often less expensive than comparable hardwoods.

Use of wood
Wood is a renewable and climate friendly raw material that is increasingly in

demand. It is a goal to increase the use of wood to replace materials with a

more detrimental impact on the climate.

Wood is a material with a long history and a wide range of applications, e.g.
construction - from bridges and high-rise buildings to interiors and furniture. Credit:
Torbjørn Tandberg
Whether massive laminated timber rafters in the "Viking Ship" Hall in Hamar, or the
world's tallest wooden building in Bergen - Norway is at the forefront internationally
when it comes to innovative use of wood in construction.

Saw

Saw is a sharp instrument made of blade or wire stiff march. It is one of the oldest
known cutting tools. The manufacture of saw over time from many of the materials
at the beginning was of stones and then became the intervention of some materials
with stone. Then it became copper and then iron. Many developments have passed
through the ages in the industry referred to and were initially composed of 10 teeth
but with the evolution there was a hundred percent of the teeth that made the work
more efficient. It has many uses in industry for example uses wood cutting and also
some non-hard metals. As for the method of use is placed on the edge of the gear
on the material and move it strongly forward continuously and strongly. It can be
used by hand or by large energy such as electricity or other power source.

Figure 1.2.2 : Saw

-8-
Axe
Axe is a sharp tool made of iron or a hard material used to cut. Made from ancient
times, it is considered one of the first tools used by teeth in facilitating life. Contains
many shapes and specialized uses, but often consists of head and handle. The head
industry was subjected to many industrial materials including copper, bronze, iron
and steel. Used in many things including cutting wood and cutting hard materials

Mechanical chainsaw
The clue is in the name! A chainsaw has two main parts: a saw blade built into a
chain, wrapped around a long metal guide bar, and a small, one-cylinder gasoline
(petrol) engine (sometimes an electric motor powered by a cord or battery pack). The
chain is a bit like a bicycle chain, running around sprockets (gear wheels designed to
turn a chain) only with about 30 or so sharp teeth (made from a hardened steel alloy)
mounted around it at intervals. Inside the engine, as the piston moves in and out of
the cylinder, it pushes a connecting rod that turns a crankshaft. The crankshaft turns
gears that are connected (through a centrifugal clutch, explained below) to one of the
sprockets on which the chain is mounted—and the chain spins around.

2.4.4 The risk of Wood cutting machane on the environmenent .

The environment is part of this beautiful universe. It suffers from many problems,
including the cutting down of forest trees. Wood cutting machine is a tool that helps
farmers and companies to cut wood. This machine must be used well and legally
because the government has developed laws to punish random pieces. At the end we
all must. Preserving our environment .
