You are on page 1of 3

For this project, you will need to become an expert on a particular aspect of your chosen

country. You will need to know all of the information listed below, and be able to
incorporate all of that information into a seamless and entertaining Poster Presentation.
Each member of your group will be expected to take on a very specific role and
participate in both the research of the project and the presentation.

Your presentation will need to be 8-10 minutes in length. The visual presentation of your
project must include, though is not limited to, each of the following elements:

 geographical map of your country labelled Tour

 pictures of three famous people Guide
 st
picture of 1 and most recent political leader Politician
 economic graph of your choice
 national flag
 lyrics and musical clip of the national anthem Patriot

DIVISION OF RESPONSIBILITIES
In your group, divide yourselves into the different roles listed below (Tour Guide,
Politician and Patriot). Each of the different roles will be responsible for gathering
different information for the project. Each role also comes with an INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT
which must be completed by you, on your own, to be turned in for grading. Each team
member may visit the same websites, use the same software and read the same books,
but you will be gathering differing information. Depending on your group, you may find it
easier to share some of the roles and divide the responsibilities in that way.
Tour Guide
As the bubbly, informative Tour Guide you are the official welcoming committee and as such are
responsible for discovering and sharing the geographical information
about your country. Which continent can it be found on? What size is
the country and how is it divided? What is its population? What is the
capital city? What are the natural geographical features of your
country (oceans, rivers, deserts, mountain ranges, etc.)? What type of
climate does it have? What is the currency used in your country and
how does it compare with the Hong Kong dollar? What is your country
famous for? Where do all tourists need to go when they visit your
country? Who are some of the famous people from this country
(make sure you have a wide variety i.e. political, historical, scientific,
sport, entertainment, etc.)? Are there any special animals from this
country? Does your country have any famous national monuments?
Any Wonders of the World?

INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT: TRAVEL BROCHURE

For this task, you will create a Travel Brochure highlighting at least 5 of the many beautiful and exciting places
your country has to offer. The brochure should describe a variety of places to visit as some of your readers might
prefer the natural beauty of your country while others prefer historical, cultural or amusement type places. When
describing the tourist attraction make sure you focus on distinguishing between relevant and irrelevant
information so that only the most important information is published. For each tourist attraction, you will need to:
 include a pictorial showing your reader a snapshot of what they might see if they visit;
 provide a short description of what there is to see at each attraction as well as what the visiting hours
and entrance fees, if any, are;
 show your reader where in your country this tourist attraction is (i.e. which part of the country, close to
which city, accessible by which mode of transportation, etc.).

Politician
As the Politician you are very serious and are therefore responsible
for researching the historical, political and economical background
of your country. In what year was your country founded? What is
its birthday? Has your country participated in any major wars? Is it
currently fighting in a war? Who are its allies? Does it have any
enemies? Who was its first leader? Who is its current leader?
What kind of political system does your country have? Which
political party rules your country right now? What kind of economy
does your country have? What kinds of businesses does it have?
What types of agriculture, if any, does it produce? How does your
country make most of its money?

INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT: POLITICAL LEADER TIMELINE

For this task, you will prepare an Political Leader Timeline. Your timeline should start when your
country actually came into being and should finish with the year 2010. Make sure you have included
the name of your leader, which political party or family dynasty he/she belonged to and the years
they served their country.
Patriot
As the Patriot your first task is to enthusiastically
share with your classmates all the cool things there
are to know about your country. What language is
spoken in your country or do they speak two or
even three? The citizens of your country
predominantly follow which religion? What are
their holidays like? Do they have any that are
different from the rest of the world or unique to
only them? Why do they celebrate these holidays?
What kinds of food or special cuisine is your
country famous for? What colours are special to the people of your country? Are there any animals
which they think are really special? Does your country have any other symbol which represents them?
You are so patriotic that your will probably be wearing your country's colours, waving its flag and I'm
sure you will probably want to burst into song–the national anthem of your country anyway.

INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT: PATRIOTIC COLLAGE

For this task you will need to create a Patriotic Collage on A3 paper. Your page should be filled to
overflowing with symbols and images of your country. Don’t forget to include the following in your
perfect patriotic collage:
 symbols
 animals
 colours
 national places of interest
