Ionic Nomenclature Musical Chairs

Rules:
1) Divide students into teams of 4-5.
2) Give each team an element name.
3) Set up for musical chairs & play music.
4) Stop music.
5) Students standing must be able to show teacher their card & verbalize the name of the
Chemical Formula.
6) 1 point is given for every correct answer for the appropriate team
7) Last student sitting will receive a prize from the chemistry treasure chest.
8) Winning team can pick something from the chemistry treasure chest.

Directions for BLOOMS – Higher Order – EVALUATING:

Students will judge unique ionic compounds for appropriate names and verbally report their card
formula with a correct name when they miss their seat in the Musical Chairs.
