A SEASON OF PRAYER for FEBRUARY

Pray for our Nation and Leaders, Pray for our Church and our leaders DAILY

PRAY, THANKING GOD FOR THE LOVE HE GIVES
Communication From the Leadership
John’s Unparalleled Gospel Of Our Divine Jesus
(Also called “The Spiritual Gospel”)
The apostle John begins his gospel account of Jesus from the very beginning, a beginning before
creation! Matthew starts his gospel account with a genealogy tracing Jesus’ lineage back to Abraham.
Mark begins with Jesus’ forerunner, John the Baptist. Luke begins with Jesus’ conception and what we
call, “The Christmas Story.” But Jesus was, even before time was ever counted upon the earth. And all
that was created, was created through Him. John tells us that nothing was created without Him, and the
“Word” was with God, and was God! Though all the gospel accounts reveal the Lord’s deity, I think John
reveals it the most. In the very first verse of Holy Scripture, speaking of beginnings in Genesis 1:1, the
Hebrew word for “God” is plural; not singular. It is no accident that the first verse in John looks like that
Gen. verse and reinforces its meaning.
We will never truly wrap our minds around this (the godhead) to a full and competent satisfying
degree. But though we fall miserably short in this matter, we are certainly in good company, for great
scholars have found their own limitations here. Just for argument sake, If we humans, being finite,
should by our estimation define God; what we define would not and could not be God. The measure and
greatness of our Lord and the godhead is such that people can spend a lifetime learning just from the
portion God has revealed. Scripture brings fantastic knowledge, wisdom, words of life, good; and evil,
etc., etc. But the subject of God, His own being, omniscience, omnipotence, divine love and purposes,
are far beyond our finite grasp in the extent of their perfect glory.
Now that we have scratched the service (a small but important scratch) and have a meager lim-
ited understanding of God in His glory; and us finite and wanting, we then look again to find ourselves
exalted by Him. SAY WHAT! This is quite a turn, just as we began to understand the great gulf that sep-
arates INFINITE CREATOR and finite creation. Jesus leaves His glory in Heaven to make His dwelling
with us. (Amazing words!) The apostle John writes in witness of this, “We have seen His glory, the glo-
ry of the one and only Son, who came from the Father full of grace and truth.” Jesus said, “If you have
seen me you have seen the Father.” Jesus dwelt with us taking on our flesh for it was the best way to
teach us, show us, and save us. Stop and consider this, for a time, we humans rubbed shoulders with
God! Then Our Lord offered His own sinless body on the cross for our sins. Jesus was making the way
so we could be children of God with a home in Heaven. If we never understand some things, let us be
sure to understand our worth to God. This is the greatest worth we will ever know! The greatest love we
will ever know! (Inspired by Jn. 1:1-14)

May He the “True Light” ever enlighten us,

A fellow child of God

Rick Harvey
