LESSON PLAN IN T.L.E II

I. Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

1. Identify the different electrical symbols commonly used in a circuit diagram.

2. Draw a simple circuit diagram.
3. Value the importance of knowing different electrical symbols.

II. Subject Matter:

Topic: “ Electrical Symbols “

References: Effective Technology and Home Economics II, pp. 162, PSSLC p. 97

Materials: textbook, drawing of different electrical symbols, and other supporting instructional
materials.
Value Focus: Appreciation, creativity, & cooperation.

III. Procedures:

Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity

A. Preparatory Activity
1. Greetings
 Good morning class Good morning sir!
 How is your morning today? Fine sir!

2. Prayer With God in my Vessel

Let the students stand and sing “With God in With God in my vessel I can
my Vessel” with actions. Smile at the storm (3x)
With God in my vessel I can
3. Checking of attendance Smile at the storm
 Is any body absent? Until he takes me home

Sailing and sailing home (2x)

With God in my vessel I can
Guide Questions: Smile at the storm
Until he takes me home…
 How do you feel while singing the song?
Why? Happy and grateful to God for being with us
 Existential/Bodily – Kinesthetic Intelligence always!
&Musical Intelligence - because you are
singing the praising song with action.

B. Review of Past Lessons:

1. Yesterday, we have studied about the

electrical circuit. What is an electrical An electrical circuit is a close, continuous
circuit? path through which electric current flows.
Very Good!
2. Let’s see if you could still remember the
different parts of a circuit. Get your partner and
arrange the following scrambled words to form the
different parts of a circuit. Do it only for ten counts. Yes sir!

3. What are now the parts of an electrical

circuit? A load, source, path and control

C. Motivation:
 Form a group with five members and
arrange the jumbled letters to form a word..
Do this within ten counts.. Yes sir!

 Interpersonal Intelligence - because it

encourage group participation.

 What word was formed? Symbol Sir!

 If you heard the word symbol, what comes

across your mind? A sign, a mark, an object or something chosen to
stand or represent something else.
 Linguistic Intelligence – because the
activity manifest the ability to use figure of
speech.

 Get and share to your partner what object in

nature best symbolizes your self and explain
why you have chosen that object to
represent your self. ( Call at least three A tree, birds, flowers, grass, soil, water & etc.
students to share their answer.)

 Naturalist Intelligence - because the

activity shows cares and concern to the
environment.
 Intrapersonal intelligence because the
activity encourage their actual feeling as
part of the object.

D. Presentations:
 Class, are you familiar with these different
drawings? Yes Sir
 Any idea from the class?

 Divide yourselves into five groups. Arrange

these two scrambled words in the
blackboard to find out what these drawings
represent ? Do this within ten counts. Yes Sir!

 What do you think these drawings represent They represent electrical symbols, Sir!
now?
 Correct! In the field of electricity, symbols
are very important. What are electrical Electrical symbols are used to represent circuit
symbols? parts.

 Would you like to know what are these

electrical symbols? Yes Sir
 That’s good because these will be our
lesson for today.
E. Lesson Proper
 Look at these examples of electrical
symbols? Could you identify if what part of
a circuit does each symbol represents? Let
us match the following electrical symbols to
each part of a circuit it represents. Yes/No, sir.
F. Discussion
 Look at this sample of an electrical circuit.
Base on the drawings, what symbols
represents the bulb? the switch? the wire? (Point out some students to answer.)
and the battery?

 In electricity, these symbols are used in

making a circuit diagram.

 What is a circuit diagram? A circuit diagram is a map of a circuit using

symbols to show the parts of a circuit.
 Using the different symbols, get your
partner and make an electrical circuit
diagram with its complete part a load,
source, path and control I will give you five ( Call at least 5 students to share their output to the
minutes to do this activity.. class.)
 Visual – Spatial Intelligence because the
activity enhance the creativity to draw a
picture of a circuit diagram.

G. Application:
 Observe the lighting and electrical facilities
of these classroom. In your paper, be able
to draw at least one electrical circuit Yes Sir!
diagram.
 Logical – Math Intelligence – because the
project having a dimension and shape.
H. Generalization:
 What have you learned from our session for We learned about different electrical symbols.
today?

 Why is it necessary to know the different

simple electrical circuit.

IV. Evaluation

Test A. Identify the following electrical symbol. Write the answer in your paper.

1.

+
2.

3. _______________________

4.

5.
Test B. Draw a simple circuit diagram of the following.

1. Lamps with DC source.

2. A buzzer with a Battery source.

V. Assignment

a. What are the two types of circuit? Describe each.

b. Research in the internet or Encarta encyclopedia and submit a hard copy of a complete
colored picture of a circuit diagram.

 Technological Intelligence because they are using the computer.
