Introductory Message
This Self-Learning Module (SLM) is prepared so that you, our
dear learners, can continue your studies and learn while at home.
Activities, questions, directions, exercises, and discussions are
carefully stated for you to understand each lesson.
Each SLM is composed of different parts. Each part shall
guide you step-by-step as you discover and understand the lesson
prepared for you.
Pre-tests are provided to measure your prior knowledge on
lessons in each SLM. This will tell you if you need to proceed on
completing this module or if you need to ask your facilitator or
your teacher’s assistance for better understanding of the lesson.
At the end of each module, you need to answer the post-test to self-
check your learning. Answer keys are provided for each activity
and test. We trust that you will be honest in using these.
In addition to the material in the main text, Notes to the
Teacher are also provided to our facilitators and parents for
strategies and reminders on how they can best help you on your
home-based learning.
Please use this module with care. Do not put unnecessary
marks on any part of this SLM. Use a separate sheet of paper in
answering the exercises and tests. And read the instructions
carefully before performing each task.
If you have any questions in using this SLM or any difficulty
in answering the tasks in this module, do not hesitate to consult
your teacher or facilitator.
Thank you.

Let Us Learn!
This module was designed and written with you in mind. It is here to
help you master the different kinds of technical drawings and interpret each.
The scope of this module permits it to be used in many different learning
situations. The language used recognizes the diverse vocabulary level of
students. The lessons are also arranged to follow the standard sequence of
the course. But the order in which you read them can be changed to
correspond with the textbook you are now using.

Let Us Try!
How well do you know about the topic? Let us try to find out by
answering the following questions. After answering this, you may check the
answers at the last part of this module.
Match the electronic symbols and letter designations of electronic
components in Column A with the corresponding descriptions/meaning in
Column B. Write your answer in a separate sheet of paper.

Let Us Study
Day 1
Good Job!
Now that you are done answering the Pre-Test, let us do the Jumbled
Letters Activity. Below are the terms in this lesson that you are not familiar
with. Your task is to read first the definition on the right side and arrange the
letters to form a word. Write your answers in separate sheet of paper.
Goodluck!

INFORMATION SHEET
Congratulations! You have done a great job! Now you ready to learn how
to identify and interpret different kinds of technical drawings. Keep up the
good work!
Simple and complex electronic circuits need diagrams to be used as
reference in assembling, designing, modifying, and troubleshooting.
Electronic diagrams are schematic, pictorial, wiring, and block diagrams.
Each one of these diagrams has its own unique characteristics in presenting
the circuit.
A. Schematic Diagram
A schematic diagram shows the complete electrical connections
between components using their symbols and lines. It shows the
components used and on how they are interconnected with each other. Each
graphic symbol is also accompanied with a reference designation to
distinguish it from other similar symbols. It does not illustrate the physical
size, shape or chassis location of the component parts and devices.
B. Block Diagram
4
The blocks of squares, rectangles or triangles represent components, group
of components or units of equivalent.
C. Pictorial Diagram
D. Wiring diagram

2. Variable Resistor

3. Polarized Capacitor

4. Non-Polarized

The appearance, simplicity in design and easy to understand layout are
some of the important attributes of a good electronic diagram and to achieve
this, several standards should be followed such as:
2. Weight of a line used in drawing a symbol does not affect its meaning.
Capacitor C
Diode D
Resistor R
Switch S/Sw
Transformer T
Transistor Q
Example: C1, C2
8
8. Numerical Values of Components
Example 1: C2 - (10uf/12V)
10. Lines connecting the symbols and other parts on a diagram should be
drawn either horizontally or vertically.
11. Dashed lines (------) used on schematic and other types of diagrams
show a mechanical linkage between components or parts of
components.

Let Us Practice
Day 2
Did you understand the lesson above? Well, to check if you really
understand it, let us do the True of False activity.
Are you ready? Let us begin!
Direction: Read and understand the statement below. Write the word TRUE
if the statement is correct and FALSE if the statement is wrong. Write your
answer on a separate sheet of paper.

Day 3
Shown below are different electronic diagram. Write the name of the
diagram in the space provided on the left side of the diagram. You may write
your answers on a separate sheet.

Let Us Remember
What did you observe while completing this activity? Good observation!
While completing the sentences, you already gained the knowledge and able
to master the lesson as well. Keep it up!
