CURRENT I

“Shit!” I blurted as I saw the time in my watch. “I am 30 minutes late. I even forgot to bring my hard hat, I
should have not took it home with me yesterday.” I hurriedly enter the site location of my latest project.
“Magandang umaga, Ma’am!”, the security guards greeted in unison as they saw me.
“Magandang umaga rin po mga kuya guards!” I replied and showed them my ID.
“Hindi na kailangan Electrical Engineer Synge Zia Zapanta.” One of them said and they all saluted.
“Mga kuya naman,eh!hahahah” I laught at them “Buong pangalan talaga?!”
“Ma’am, maganda ang pangalan mo. Maiba tayo ma’am, himala late ka ngayon, ah?”
“Ang dami ko kasing tinapos na trabaho kagabi, ayon tuloy nasubrahan sa tulog.”
“Ay ma’am, buti na nalang nandito kana. May memo galing sa itaas, darating ang mg bosses mamayang
alas dyes.” One of the guards informed me. They were like that, friendly and respectful since l started
working here a month ago.
“Talaga kuya? Bakit daw?”
“Site visitation , ma’am.”
“Ganoon ba? Sige mga kuya, aalis na ako baka hinahanap na ako ni foreman. Late pa na man ako,
hahahaha!” I laughed as I bid my goodbye and waved at them.
“Sige, ma’am!” they waved back.
“Late ka.” As I entered the office the foreman said flatly.
“I over slept. Dami kong tinapos na trabaho kagabi manong Ellie”, manong Ellie is our foreman. He is
already on his late 50’s and we’ve been workmate for 3 projects from the past.
He laughed at me.
He was talking about our people.
“Oh, those playful bastards hahaha” I answered.
“Manong, do we have an extra hard hat sa bodega?” I remembered, I forgot to bring mine.
“OO, meron. Bakit?”
“Nakalimutan ko kasing dalhin yong akin. Galing ako sa kabilang site kahapon, so ayon inuwi ko sa bahay,
sa pag mamadali ko kanina, nakalimutan ko tuloy.” I answered. “Sige manong, kuha lang ako nang hard
hat then I go straight to the site”. I walked out the office and pumunta nang bodega. I saw an orange hard
hat.
“This will do”, I head fast to the construction site to supervise the work of our people.
“’Good morning, ‘Ner!” they said in unison as they saw me and ‘Ner – short for engineer.
siguro kagabi?” one of them playfully asked.
“OO, may ka date ako kagami, ang gwapo! Hahaha” I playfully answered too.
“Sus ‘Ner, joke lang yon! Alam naming wala kang oras maki pag date, hahahaha!” kantyaw nila sa akin.
“Alam ninyo naman pala, tanong tanong pa!” mga loko talaga,” back to work, tama na ang satsat” I clapped
my hands.
“Okay, ‘Ner hahaha!” They were still laughing and continue their doing work.
“How was the grounding conductors on those columns, Tado?” I pointed some columns.
“Nai-attach na po namin kanina, ‘Ner.” he answered.
“How about the tubes, are they all correct?” I am referring to the pvc kung saan ipapasok yong mga wires.
“Tapos na din po,’Ner!”
“Okay, I will assign some of you para magbantay sa pagbubuhos ng seminto sa byernes ng gabi. I have
already signed the necessary papers for the approval of cementing the ground floor on friday.” Ganito ang
kalakaran didto sa construction site. We would have wait from the other engineering department especially
from civil works where they have to be done first sa pag lalagay ng iron bars before we start working.
If we would insist to work before them, they might
just step on the tubes and cause deformations. It would be hard for the electricians to pull the wires inside
of it or worst it might worn-out the coating insulator of the wire upon pulling it on deformed edges. “I will
just tell you later what to do.”
“growk, growk” ‘twas his stomach.
“hahaha, gutom ka na?” I laught asking him.
“Eh ‘Ner, 12:05 na ng tanghali” I looked at my watch, yeah he said it correct.
“Call the others, have your lunch now.”
“Ikaw ‘Ner?”
“Susunod na ako, may titingnan lang ako sandili sa column na yon.” I was pointing my hand on the west
side of the construction site.
“Okay!” he hurriedly called the others and went away.
CURRENT II

“I have to go, I still have other meetings to attend to, Lync, pare!” Zeke said. He is one of my friends and
business partner.
“Yeah sure, send my regards to tita Anna!” tita Anna, his mom. There, I was left and ‘twas past 12 o’clock
already. I am still in the middle of the construction site alone and I could see every corner where I am
standing.
“Who was that?” I saw a guy-no, I am not sure if it was a guy. From the body, it is smaller from any average
body built of a man. Maybe it’s a woman but it dressed ruggedly and in the middle of this site? Curiosity
strikes on me, so I went to where he or she heading.
“Who are you? Are you some thief?” I was facing the stranger’s back so I called its attention.
“Me, a thief?” it’s a female voice, whispering. She hastily turned around and walk approaching to me. I
saw her face clearly. I was speechless for a moment but what made me lost all my senses was she grabbed
my nape, turned me around on the opposite direction and kissed me!
She tasted like strawberry, I liked it. Without thinking, I snaked my arms around her to move our body
closer and deepened the kiss. She stiffened upon the movement I made and stopped kissing me, so I bit her
lower lip to open her mouth and I succeeded. I inserted my tongue and roamed around her mouth. She
really tasted like strawberry, addicting.
“hmmmp……hmmmppp!” twas her. She was pushing me, she was out of breath. I let her go and she stepped
backward.
“What was that!”, she asked gasping for air.
“What was that!”, mimicking her words. “ You were the first one to kiss me, I just responded.”, I smirked
remembering her sweet taste.
“You!”, she exclaimed, her face is now as red as tomato.
“Me what? And are you some thief?” Now that I have the perfect view of her, she is just wearing a denim
jacket under a white shirt and blue jeans yet she looks extremely beautiful and simple. Her small yet pointed
nose, round eyes and thin lips. She is an epitome of a real beauty- effortless. Tsk, this is not good!
“I am not a thief.” She said in normal tone and was looking on my back. I tried to turn around to see what
she is looking but she held my right shoulder, refraining me from turning around, “ I am not a thief!” she
said panicking.”
“If you are not a thief then what are you doing here the fact that it is already lunch break for the employees?”
I asked her bluntly.
“Kawatan na agad ako dahil nandidto pa ko kahit lunch break na? Alam mo bang ang mga manggagawa
dito ay umaalis at kumakain na agad kahit wala pang lunch break? Anong masama na nandito pa, eh
ginagawa ko ang trabaho ko nang maayos at pasalamat nga ang may-ari ng pinapatayong building na ito
hindi ko sinasayang ang perang binabayad nila sa akin. I was just checking this particular column if the
grounding conductor is welded carefully.” I was just looking at her face while she is talking, hindi ko nga
naintindihan ang sinasabi niya.
“Hey, earth to you! Tatayo ka na lang ba diyan?” she snapped in front of me.
“Then they allowed a female to work here? In this midst of the day and what department are you from?
With that color of hard hat you are using I bet you are not an engineer!” I countered.
“What? Isa ka ba sa mga taong nayroong double standard na pag-iisip? We are now in the 21st century
mister! What a man like you can do, kaya rin naming mga babae!” she told me, she looked at her watch.
“Shit! You are taking so much of my time! I could have had my lunch if you did not interfere and accused
me of being a thief!” fierce, I though.
“I was just protecting my----“, I wasn’t able to finish what I am about to say
“Ring…..ring…..ring….” ‘twas her phone.
“Yeah, I’ll be there!” she hang up and walk away.
“Hey! I am not done here yet!” I yelled
“Nah, I’m hungry! Aren’t you hungry? I haven’t had my breakfast so I’m totally famished!” she yelled
back without looking at me and waved her hand. She continued walking and never looked back.

CURRENT III

“Manong Caloy, ano pong ginagawa mo?” I called his attention, I know what he was doing.
“Ah, mam! Please wag mo ako isusumbong, ginawa ko lang ito kasi nasa ospital ang anak ko at ako lang
ang inaasahan ng pamilya ko! Please mam, matatanggal ako sa trabaho kapapag nalaman nilang nag
nakaw ako ng mga supplies dito maam, maawa ka” he pleaded
“Who are you? Are you some thief?” I hurriedly turned around and I saw a man a few meters away from
where I am standing. Shit, baka makita niya si manong Caloy!I walked to him hurriedly. Nakita ko si
manong kaloy na nagtatago in the direction facing the man so I grabbed his nape and turned him on the
opposite direction to give manong Caloy the chance to leave the place but I could see that manong Caloy
was still hesitant, probably he was so afraid to get caught. So while the man was still in the state of shocked,
I took the opportunity to kiss him. As I was kissing him, I signaled manong Caloy to leave the please. I was
about to loosen my grip on his nape when he suddenly move his body towards me and held me tightly.
“Who was that? Gosh, I kissed him! I initiated the kiss! Is he one of the bosses? Shit! I was totally rude and
I did not even correct him about my work! Shit talaga!
Kinabahan talaga ako kanina and I almost
stutter. Shit! He looks so manly, I admit he was so handsome in his coat and he has Mexican - American
features. He even stood 6’3 feet I think and I was just on his shoulder.” I murmured
“Napano ka ‘Ner,? Namumula ka, ah?” that was Deigo, isa sa mga electricians naming.
“Mainit sa labas! Tapos na ba kayong kumain?” I diverted my mind.
“Oo, nauna na kami. Pasensya na, ‘Ner.” ‘twas Vincent, one of them. I have 10 people in my team.
“It’s okay! Sa labas na lang ako kakain, may tumawag galing sa head office at pinapa punta ako ngayon
doon. Sige, alis na ako mang Ellie!” I bid my goodbye.
“Gutom na talaga ako!” I murmured as I was heading at the exit of the site.
“Ma’am, lalabas kayo?” kuya guard asked me.
“OO, kuya. Pinapatawag ako sa head office namin,eh! Kuya, may candy ka ba dyan o kaya crackers?” I
asked kuya guard, what can I do? I even aksed some food from the guard. Eh, sa gutom na ako at kasalanan
talaga yon nang lalaking yon.
“Oh ito, may biscuit ako dito. Hindi ka pa kumakain no?”
“Ang galing mo kuya! Natumbok mo!” I exclaimed.
“Hala, lumarga kana hahaha!” he pushed me away while laughing.
“Salamat po kuya! Bibilhan kitang dinner pagbalik ko, overtime ako mamaya!” I waved away.
“Nako! Sige, sige.” He waved back.
“Sarap nito! Lahat ng klasi ng pagkain masarap sa taong gutom!hahaha” I eat while laughing. I was waiting
for a taxi while a very shinny sports car stopped in front of me and the window opened.
“Eating that biscuit while laughing? I bet your---“he paused and smirked, it was the same man I kissed! He
was inside his car. Bakit ba ako minamalas ngayong araw nato, I am still not over from the embarrassment
I got a while ago.
“ What? Crazy? Inakusahan mo na ako kaninang magnanakaw nangayon baliw na man?”I blurted trying to
hide my embarrassment
“Woh! That’s not what I meant, I was gonna say that your totally hungry and you find that stuff delicious!”
Palusot pa nang mokong na ito “I was even gonna offer you a ride t----“
“No, thank you! I cut him as I saw on my peripheral vision a taxi approaching. I immediately called the taxi
and ride on it.
“Sa may Ortegas manong, McKinley Building” the taxi drove away.

CURRENT IV
“No one have ever cut my sentence for my entire life, but she did- not just once but twice in just one day. I
should get angry but I just I find it entertaining on how she answered me. I bet she doesn’t know who I
am.” I drove my car to heading the way to my office.
“Good noon, sir! Your lunch is ready as you requested!” I nodded to Nadine. I don’t usually talk especially
if it’s not important. That was my hyper secretary na laging nag papa-cute sakin. She is efficient on her job
so I just let her.
“Tumawag din si Ma’am Chesca. Call her daw sir as soon as you get back”, so my mother called. What is
it this time? Is she gonna force me again the idea of meeting and dating her new found friend. My mom’s
full of antics. She would even hospitalize herself when she doesn’t get what she is asking from my dad.
Thou that was dad’s fault for spoiling her.
“ring…….ring…….ring” that’s my mom for sure. She is the only one who calls on my private landline
directly.
“Hi mom! Have you installed cctv cameras in my office? I just got here, I don’t need to call you.” accusing
her.
“What are talking about? Ikaw na bata ka pinag-iisipan mo ba ako ng masama?” I bet her brows are in
single line now.
“Nah, why’d you called mom?”
“I want you to go home on Friday night. I will introduce you to my friend Zia. Forget me as your mother if
you cannot come home.” How dramatic.
“But mom I’m busy! I have tons of workloads t---“no buts!” she cut me and hang up the call. I just sat and
eat my lunch frustrated. s
