To Whom It May Concern: 

I had the pleasure of teaching Caeli Smith last year in English 11. Throughout the 
semester, Caeli showed that she is an empathetic, capable student, who has great 
potential for success.  

Caeli’s empathy is her most transcendent quality. Whether she was reading a short story, 
researching an issue, or working with a classmate, Caeli is able to think from multiple 
perspectives and make decisions with a good mixture of care and realism.  

Caeli is also able to recover from setbacks. While at the beginning of class she struggled, 
she took advantage of extra credit opportunities and worked diligently to improve her 
average. She doesn’t give up when things are difficult. 

Caeli has a dynamic personality. She is intelligent, funny, and kind. As a result of her 
natural empathy, intelligence, and will to succeed, I know she can be successful in the 
classroom and beyond.
