Assignment 2: Individual Coding Assignment

Assume that you are in the role of a standards analyst within a jurisdictional organization; for
example, eHealth Ontario (eHO) or Cancer Care Ontario (CCO). Keep in mind that Ontario is
heavily interested in the use of FHIR and SNOMED-CT as the common terminology across its
systems and its organizational partners.

Instructions for Coding Assignment

As part of your job, you are responsible for the development of coding standards for the
submission of information to your organization and, ultimately, for inter-organizational data
analytics. You have been assigned a number of values that require coding (see below), and you
need to select the appropriate coded values based on the organization business requirements.
These requirements are:
a) Ease of adoption and use among analyst for reporting and analytical purposes
b) Ability for data to be shared with another health organization which heavily utilizes
SNOMED-CT codes
