I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, the pupils are expected to:
A. identify the different types of adverbs.
B. write sentences with appropriate adverbs.
C. demonstrate teamwork and responsibility towards learning.

A. Motivation
The teacher shows a picture. The pupils will be asked some questions to engage them
in formulation of the lesson. Varied answers are expected from the pupils. The teacher
will make a graphic organizer to present the similar ideas regarding the lesson.

3. Are colors important to this picture? Why?

A. Discussion
After formulation of the lesson which is all about adverb, the teacher posts sentences
on the board and the pupils read and analyze the following sentences which will lead
them to the definition of the adverb.

Sentence 1: Tom walks slowly.


(What is the verb in the sentence? What is your adverb? What does your
adverb modify?)

Sentence 2: The coffee is too hot to drink.


(What is the adjective in the sentence? What is the adverb in sentence? What
does your adverb modify?)

Sentence 3: She moves very quickly.


(What are the adverbs in the sentence? What does your adverb modify?)

OBSERVE and ANALYZE:

Our field trip today has been called off.

Drill 1: Identify the type of adverb used in the sentence.

Drill 2: Properly use of So, Too and Very.

A. Application
Group Activity: The pupils will be grouped into three and each group will pick
pictures which they will be describing using adverbs. The pictures are common
activities or actions we do every day.

B. Generalization
What part of speech does an adverb modify? What are the kinds of adverbs? How do
you differentiate adverb from adjective? What is the importance of adverb in sentence
construction?

IV. EVALUATION:

adverb and underline the word it modifies.
