adjectives. Let us review what you have learned.
Directions: Read the following sentences carefully, then box the
adjective.

Adverbs of manner tell how an action is done or how
something happens.
Example:
1. She sings happily.
How does she sing? Happily.
2. They hugged lovingly.
How did they hug? Lovingly.

How do I wear mask? Carefully.
Some examples of adverbs of manner are happily, lovingly
and carefully.
Adverbs of manner are formed in 3 ways:
1. add –ly to the adjective
example:
adjective adverb of manner
bad badly
sad sadly
beautiful beautifully
2. if the adjective ends in –y, change y to --i and add –ly
example:
adjective adverb of manner
lazy lazily
pretty prettily
easy easily
3. if the adjective ends in –le, take the –e out and replace with
–y
example:
adjective adverb of manner
terrible terribly
able ably
credible credibly

Why is it important to know adverbs of manner?
