determination and hard work.’ Giving wings to his dreams, Supreet Singh (15) of DAV Public School, Sector 14 (Special Wing) Gurugram won accolades for our country India. He proved his mettle by winning Gold Medal in 1000 metre race in Roller Skating in Special Olympics World Summer Games held at Abu Dhabi from 14 March-21 March 2019. This sports event is dedicated to the specially abled of all ages and it entered its 50th year in 2019. It was India’s 9th participation in this world event of the highest level. Supreet was a part of a 289 strong squad representing India along with 73 coaches. He was assisted by Mr Parbhat Sharma as his coach. Around 13 athletes participated from Haryana. Among the 5 athletes who took a leap from Gurugram, three are associated with DAV Public School. Jashandeep (17) who won a bronze medal in Roller Skating and Parveen Chaudhary who won two gold medals in Swimming have also been the students of DAV till last year where the seeds of success were sown initially. India has got third rank in the Special Olympics World Summer Games 2019. The contingent has won 368 medals in various games including 85 golds which is praiseworthy. Years of preparation and training has culminated into huge success. Supreet attended 4 training camps organized by Special Olympics Bharat at Gurugram, Rajasthan, Telangana and Delhi spread across the year. Prior to this, he was trained by Mr Jairaj at DAV Public School’s campus. He worked hard to give shape to Supreet’s passion for Roller Skating. His fortitude and brilliant accomplishment will surely inspire millions. The school feels exultant to be a pillar behind his success story.
