 El volleyball

Volleyball (initially under the name of

mintonette) was born on February 9,
1895 in the United States, in Holyoke,
Massachusetts. Its inventor was William
George Morgan, a physical education
teacher at the YMCA. It was an indoor
team game with similarities to tennis or
handball.

Traditional volleyball was first played at

the Olympic Games as a demonstration
sport at the 1924 Olympic Games in
Paris and belongs to the Olympic specialties since the 1964 Tokyo Olympics.

Currently 22 teams compete in the male and female branches. In addition to the
host country, the three teams of the Volleyball World Cup of the previous year,
one team for each region (Africa, Asia, Europe, South America and North
America), and three teams of a world playoff are classified

The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) was founded in 1947 and the first
world championships took place in 1949 (male) and 1952 (female). Since 1964
it has been an Olympic sport. Beach volleyball joined the FIVB in 1986 and the
Summer Olympics since 1996.

In the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) there are 220 nations that
actively participate in sports. Among those that stand out are Brazil, USA, Italy,
Russia, Japan, Serbia, Poland, Cuba, China and Germany.

This sport is composed of teams of 6 players,
