What is a hot spring? A hot spring is
the result of geothermally heated water from
the earth’s crust that emerges through the
earth’s surface and becomes a part of the
ground water. Some springs are the result of
pressure from an underground source in the
earth, in the form of volcanic activity.
British Columbia has over 25 hot springs
located situated in some of the most scenic
places throughout the province. While some
hot springs have been developed into
international resort destinations, others are so
undeveloped that a boat — or even a float
plane — may be necessary to access them.
