following position for our office in FakFak, Papua Barat:

FAKFAK BEHAVIOR CHANGE AND COMMUNICATION COORDINATOR

(F – BC3)
The Fakfak Behavior Change and Communication Coordinator (FBC3) will be responsible for providing
technical leadership for a high-quality, results-oriented program focused on behavior change to support
Fakfak Program. The program’s aim is to promote effective protection and sustainable use of coastal and
marine resources in Fakfak Region, improve local capacity, and raise awareness of the existing issues.

Key Duty / Responsibility:

Communication Management;
• Coordinating evaluation, development, implementation and result monitoring of sustainable intervention
strategy including communication strategy to ensure objectives are met and based on scientifically
acknowledged triggers for behaviour change;
• Organize planning and monitoring the use of communication resources to optimize its use;
• Systemizing media monitoring and manage publication materials related to footages and other
communication materials;
• Maintaining and continually developing contact list of journalists or media (print, TV, radio, web, photo
etc.);
• To support Fakfak Marine Protecting Area (MPA) Project implementation including preparation of activities,
schedules, field activities, meetings, events, data analysis, and reporting.

Communication Partnership and Engagement;

• Providing technical assistance to support local partners to hone their messaging and increase the
effectiveness of Fakfak Program Campaign and triggers for behaviour change;
• Communicating CI’s Fakfak Program and maintaining regular contact and close collaboration with local
government at the district level Fakfak and West Papua Province through the relevant agencies, printed or
online media either at the regional, provincial, or national level, local communities, and donors.

Media Relation and Communication Campaigns / Events;

• Preparing and disseminating necessary communication products/materials/reports and activities in
accordance with the intervention and communication strategy prepared;
• Building journalists capacity to increase their knowledge and understanding about conservation issues and
improve media coverage of Fakfak Program

Communication Monitoring and Evaluation

• Harmonizing communication baseline and intervention/communication strategy with appropriate
intervention/communication performance indicators;
• Arrange regular communication meetings and produce reports on a regular basis to evaluate the success
and lesson learned of communication strategies in supporting Fakfak Program

Qualifications:
(critical to successful job performance. Applicants not meeting required skills may not be hired)
• Min. Bachelors level degree or certificate in Social Behaviour Change, Communication, journalism or
another relevant field required;
• Min. 3 years practical experience with a development organization, managing BCC projects in fragile
operating environments
• Able to identify areas where the BCC program may not have the desired impact,
• Strong critical analysis, persuasive and advocacy skills to engage and work with effective approaches in
multi stakeholder audience;
• Demonstrate working with media especially with news placement
• Good interpersonal skills and willing to travel to remote area;
• Excellent writing and editing skills in both Bahasa Indonesia and English
• Ability to work in a team and work independently
• Experience in using relevant communication software to create persuasive communication materials

Preferred
• Familiar with Open Standard for Conservation
• Good knowledge / understanding of local cultural setting in Papua
• Good understanding of the household livelihood security framework.
• Open in learning and implementing new approaches and method
