Chapter 1
INTRODUCTION

A primary impact of parental participation on the conduct of students is enhanced academic

achievement. Students typically have better attendance records, higher grades, and greater
drive to succeed when their parents are involved. This is explained by the extra help and
inspiration parents give, which highlights the importance of education and fosters a supportive
learning environment at home. Parental involvement can also take the form of talking with
teachers, offering to help with homework, volunteering in the classroom, and having
discussions with their children about their educational goals. These activities all promote
positive parent-child relationships, improve communication, and provide opportunities for
educational guidance and reinforcement.attending parent classes, school political involvement,
talking to staff, talking to teachers and etc. The data were collected by parental involvement
questionnaire scores and by academic performance grades.maybe it's not enough students that
their parents are always the ones they spend time with studying is here maybe a lot will be
learned and here is the friendship with people and the key to success maybe the school is the
second home and the teachers are the second parents.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The study aims to identify effective strategies for promoting parental involvement and
improving student behavior and academic performance. The research aims address the
following questions:

• What is the effect of parental involvement on student behavior and academic performance in
low-income families?
• What are the barriers to parental involvement in improving student outcomes, and can they
be addressed?
• What are the most effective strategies for promoting parental involvement in student
education, and how can they be implemented in schools and communities?

HYPOTHESIS

Increased parental involvement positively correlates with improved student behavior, as

parents who actively participate in their child's education and daily life may contribute to a
more supportive and structured environment, fostering positive behaviors in students. Limited
parental involvement may be associated with a higher likelihood of disruptive behavior in
students, as the absence of consistent parental guidance and support could lead to a lack of
structure and accountability in the child's life.

THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

According to the social learning theory, behavior is learned through observation and imitation
of others’ behavior. Children learn from their parent’s behavior, which is reinforced through
rewards and punishments. The parent’s involvement in their child’s education can act as
positive reinforcement and encourage good behavior, while the lack of parental involvement
can lead to negative behavior.

The ecological systems theory suggests that individuals are influenced by their immediate
environment, including their family, peers, and community. Parental involvement can provide a
supportive and nurturing environment, leading to positive behavior and academic success. On
the other hand, the absence of parental involvement can result in negative behavior and a lack
of academic motivation.

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION

The study will look at a variety of student behaviors, including behavior in the classroom,
attendance, social interactions, and disciplinary matters. The goal of this thorough approach is
to present a comprehensive knowledge of the ways in which parental participation affects
various facets of student behavior. The study will cover a wide range of parental involvement,
such as involvement in extracurricular activities, communication with instructors, attendance at
school functions, and academic engagement
