 INTRODUCTION
Parents have a major influence on a child’s achievement, more importantly in the field
of education. The absence of a parent in a child’s academic performance makes
them insecure, which affects their well-being in general. Parental absence is the
temporary or extended absence of one or more parent. This study estimates the effect
of parental absence on the development of the children. Although some previous
studies have looked into the effect of parental absence on children's academic
performance. A child whose parents are both absent tends to have, lower self‐
assessment on behavior. A gender difference is also observed in the effect of parental.
A single parent is someone who is bringing up a child on their own, because the other
parent is not living with them. A single parent is the mother/father of a child who is
affected by not having a complete parent. Is defined as being the relationships with
the people interacts with. Social aspect refers to the interaction and relationship of
students, specifically with absentee parents, with the people around them. Emotional
aspect refers to the emotional feeling of a student who doesn’t have a parent or a
student who have an absentee parent. To understand the performance, specifically
the academic performance. Parents are important to help guide, teach and lead their
children because a child need supports and also discipline to be motivated. It is a
parent’s responsibility to take care of their children, it is hard for a student to have no
one to guide them especially in their studies because as a student you still need
someone to teach you and it is best to learn from your parents. Some reasons why this
happen is due to financial problems like parents need to go abroad or leave to look for
money to enable to support their family an example are the(OFW), another is
separation of parents which sometimes results to single- parenting and one more
example is the death of a loved one. Statement of the Problem This study is conducted
to identify the academic performance of students with absentee parents. Some
reasons for a parent’s absence are loss of parental rights, abandonment, work, death,
divorce, mental or physical illness, drugs or alcoholism, or hospitalization. Some parents
are physically present, but they are emotionally absent and do not fulfill their roles as
parents.

ABSTRACT
The forms of parental absence include participating in school activities such as Parent
Teacher Associations (PTA), back-to-school nights, open houses, parent-teacher
conferences, or volunteering at the school. Using the 1992 National Educational
Longitudinal Study (NELS) data set, this study assessed the effects of parental
involvement on the academic achievement of African American 12th grade youth,
using several models. The results indicate that parental involvement had a positive
impact on the educational outcomes of these youth. However, this influence was no
longer statistically significant when variables for socioeconomic status (SES) were
included in the analysis. All the sets of results were reasonably consistent across the
different kinds of academic variables. The analyses also indicated that parents were
slightly more likely to be involved in the education of their daughters than they were in
the education of their sons. Findings confirm that parent-child and parent-school
involvement practices differentially influence student attitudes and behaviors, thereby
indirectly affecting student achievement to varying degrees.
 OBJECTIVE
The goal of the survey is to accurately collect basic indicators of health and well-being
in rural children for analysis. Such data will allow to determine if there are effect
between variables of health and well-being to the student, and the mother and/or
father's presence or absence in the home. The objective of the study was to investigate
the academic performance of left-behind children under various statuses of parental
absence. Due to the large-scale rural-to-urban migration of labors, an enormous
number of children living in the absence of parental care. The first objective the effect
of parental absence and the emotional cause of this issue in the child. The second
objective is to give evidence on the determinants of parental absence on how it can
affect the parental absence in the child in their academic performance in school and
other activity that can need parent. The particular enriches our understanding of
involvement choices by pointing to costs and barriers to involvement that are beyond
parents’ control. Finally, the last objective is to know the reasons why parent in not
having a time to their children

PURPOSE
Over the past several decades, research have identified parenting-related knowledge,
attitudes, and practices that are associated with improved developmental outcomes
for children and around which parenting-related programs, policies, and messaging
initiatives can be designed. Consensus is lacking on the elements of parenting that are
most important to promoting child, and what is known about effective parenting has
not always been different service sectors to give all parents the information and support
they need. Knowledge about effective parenting has not been effectively
incorporated into policy, which has resulted in a lack of coordinated and targeted
efforts aimed at supporting parents.
Several challenges to the implementation of effective parenting practices exist as well.
One concerns the scope and complexity of hardships that influence parents’ use of
knowledge, about effective parenting, including their ability to translate that
knowledge into effective parenting practices and their access to and participation in
evidence-based parenting-related programs and services. The purpose of this
interesting topic and common issue, is to be aware he people of this certain problem
that students with absentee parents are going through and how it affects their
academic performance. Statement of the Problem This study is conducted to identify
the academic performance of students with absentee parents and to know why
parents is being absence and not having a time for their child it comes in school and
other responsibilities being a parents.
