Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order at 7:02 pm by President Smith. In addition, the following
members were in attendance: Kelly Horney, Amanda Sattazahn, Sharrel Van Wagner, Jenn
Kratzer, Nicole Louden, Melissa Creaven, Christine Warren, Colleen Keith, Melanie Walborn,
Brenda Daniels, Pam Weber, Shauna Jordan, Trisha Zellers, Ashley Doernemann, Jenna Lawson,
Deb Lehan, Lisa Milbrand, Ann Huatishion, John Huatishion, Kim Dijkstra, Courtney
Micklewright, Alissa Kern, Ashlea Kenley, Amber Good, Erin Kasi, Tina Henry, Brigitta Scheib,
Julie Moreland, Jen Szekeres, Todd Boden, Dara Boden and Lou Correale
A motion to approve the June minutes was made by Christine Warren and seconded by Collen
Keith, the motion was approved unanimously.
Welcome Back to WH for the 2017-18 school year!
Treasurer’s Report
Cash as of 08/31/17 $34,146.45, CD balance $5,461.70, grand total $39,608.15

Treasurer forms are available in the office and on the WHPTA website

Correspondence several thank you notes were received by staff from staff appreciation week

Presidents Report there are PTA membership forms available, make sure you join the PTA!
Back to School nights will be as follows: K-2 on 9/13, grades 3-5 on 9/14 both beginning at 6:30
pm in the MPR. There will be a PTA open house in the library after the first session. Monthly
newsletter deadline is the 20th of each month, please get any information to Carrie Criley prior to
that. Any information that needs to be added to the WH website, please contact Mrs. Heter
sheter@cdschools.org, any information that needs to be added to the PTA tab of the WH website,
please contact Carrie Criley crileyca@hotmail.com,
Vice Presidents Report directory forms are available tonight and on the website as well as
being sent home with your student. It is extremely important that each family completes
and returns this form. This is the only way the PTA has to contact you and to stay in the
PTA loop. We are not tied in with the district data base. Volunteers are always needed for
childcare during PTA meetings. There will be an open house tour for anyone interested,
HIGHLY recommended for any new chairpersons, to be held before the October meeting
on 10/3 at 6:30pm
Committee Reports:
Assemblies report by Jaime Holmes, there are 2 assemblies scheduled and Van Gogh,
details to follow
Bake and Sub Sale report by Julie Moreland, sale is scheduled for Tuesday, November
7, election day. Watch for signs ups requesting donations and volunteers
Book Fair report by Pam Weber, event taking place 9/26-28, 9/25 is family night.
There is a planning meeting being held 9/11 at 9am
Consumer Rewards 9/11 is the date to begin registering for GIANT A+
Directory report by Lisa Milbrand, Forms will be going out this week, please return
asap and write print clearly. Any chairpersons, please provide this committee with
any important dates coming up
Fall Fest report by Ashlea Kenley, taking place October 29, time tbd and is held for
grades K-3, more details to follow
5th grade no report
4th/5th grade Halloween report by Tina Hemry, event taking place October 28 6-8pm.

This is a drop off event for 4 and 5 graders. More details to follow
Fundraising **Looking for chairperson for this committee**
Holiday Shoppe This event is a secret Santa shop where student volunteers help
younger kids with holiday shopping. Date tbd, possible 12/1-2
International Day/Week chairperson is looking to hold event in January 2018, looking
into the possibility of exploring Brazil with food, arts/crafts, and education
May Fair **Looking for chair people for this committee** Ideally 4 people can co-
chair this committee. This is the largest fundraiser for us, event will be held 5/19/18
Membership forms will be coming home this week
Mornings/Muffins report by Courtney Micklewright and Amanda Sattazahn, dates are
tbd event will be held over 3 days separated by students last name
Party/Room Parents report by Courtney Micklewright and Sharrel Van Wagner, please
review the duties for homeroom parent and party parent on the PTA website,
always review activities and snack options with your child’s teacher to
eliminate any food allergies instances. Fall Parties will be held Friday, October 27,
kindergarten 10:45 – 11:30, grades 1-5 2:45 – 3:30. Sign-ups will be posted
outside each classroom at back to school nights.
Reflections This year’s theme is “In Reach”, awards will be given, please contact Carrie
Criley with any questions.
Scholarship report by Shelly Smith, 2 $1,000 scholarships are given each year to a
graduating senior who attended WH, this process will begin in January.
School Spirit report by Jenn Kratzer, GO GOLD for childhood cancer awareness on 9/8,
have your child wear gold to school
Spirit Wear report by Kelly Horney, there is a goal to get spirit wear to each
student/family, looking for corporate sponsorship, contact Kelly H. or Melissa
Creaven if interested.
School Store report by Jen Szekeres and Tina Henry, store will be opened Monday,
Wednesday and Friday 8:45-9:00
Service report by Jenn Kratzer, Mini THON details will be coming, the results from
the sock drive were exceptional
Staff Appreciation report by Shauna Jordan, she will be reaching out to the committee
shortly to begin planning for the year.
Talent Show repot by Melanie Walborn, the event will be held on 2/8/18 at CDMS. Sign-
ups will begin in November. Looking for comedy, dancing and singing acts.
Year Book report by Tina Henry, custom cover design contest will take place with the
current 5th graders, they will be due in early October. Committee is looking into
creating a drop box account for families to share photos
PAC report by Christine Warren, quarterly meetings are held, first one is 10/19 6:30 –
7:30 at the Central Dauphin Administration Building
CD School Board Meeting next meeting is 9/11 at CDEHS, all meetings are streamed
live on the district website
Principal Our first week is complete! Buses and car riders are working through their
systems of arrival and dismissals. We have 9 new staff members to welcome this
year, please welcome the new faces. Any parents or guardians that are having
issues or problems, please contact your child’s teacher immediately. Do not wait
until conferences. Make sure you read the emails that are being sent, there is a lot
of important information in them. If you haven’t already, download the districts
blackboard app, visit the school and the district websites often as they are always
being updated. Contact your child’s teacher to see if there are allergies present in
the classroom. If you don’t already have one, make sure that you get your volunteer
clearance badge from the district. This is needed to do classroom parties,
chaperones field trips and volunteer in the school and the classrooms. Back to
School nights will be held 9/13 and 9/14. 9/21 and 10/9 are in-service days for
students, there will be no school those days. 10/13 is fall pictures. New Building
update: looking to break ground summer 2018 and have the building occupied by
2019-20 school year.
