Welcome and Introductions The group provided introductions

Reports a. Budget Meeting- Wednesday October 12, 2011 8:30am in the School Library. All parents are welcome, and encouraged to attend this meeting b. School Planning Committee- The primary focus of this committee is academic planning, for students. Please contact Michelle Dick if you are interested in joining this committee or would like further information c. Parent education- Laura Watson who sits on the PAC executive will be now filling the role of Parent Education. Laura will be developing a blog and a newsletter to keep parents informed about school information. If you have any suggestions to enhance communication please pass your suggestions along to Laura d. Emergency Preparedness- Laura Watson will be attending the schools Health and safety meeting. Laura reminded parents we have a large storage bin outside the school that is equipped with emergency supplies that will sustain the children for a 24 hour period in a case of an emergency Action Item: Laura Watson will replace and label all the perishable supplies in the emergency bin . e. Hot Lunch- With the support of parent volunteers we can continue to provide hot lunch for the students. Help will be needed in collecting money and distributing the lunches until the teachers strike is over. Action Item Michelle Dick will send out information to the parents requesting volunteers f. Fruit and Veggie Program- Anne Heppell has graciously offered to coordinate this program again this year

h. Safer Schools- This is a committee that increases safety awareness at our schools, parents are invited to join this committee, if you would like more information or would like to join the committee please contact Michelle Dick for more information i. Parking Lot- Parents expressed a concern with the manner in which parents continue to park in the school parking lot. No parking signs have been posted in the main parking lot, however cars are continuing to park there. There is also some confusion surrounding the drop off zone in the front of the school. Action Item: Michelle Dick will speak with Deneen regarding the drop off/ pick up zone 4 New Business a. Book & Bake sale- Will be on Wednesday September 28th and Thursday September 29th. We are in need of a coordinator for the event and parents are needed to volunteer at the event. We will also need lots of baking to make this event a success! Action item: Michelle Dick will send out a volunteer sign-up sheet to all the parents in the days to come b. Terry Fox Run- Will take place Thursday September 28th at the Rotary Trail c. Family Photo Night- The date TBA, volunteers will be needed; a sign-up sheet will be circulated. Action item: Michelle Dick will send out a parent sign-up sheet for Family Photo night d. Magazine Fundraiser: Parents should have received this package, with all the information included. Dennen is organizing this event, please contact her if you have any questions e. Staff Appreciation: Each month we provide the staff with a treat of some sort in their lunch room to express our appreciation for them. If parents would like to volunteer to bring something, please sign up for the month you are interested in and you will receive an e-mail from Michelle Dick with more details f. Lice Checks: Anne Heppell graciously volunteered to coordinate this program; the first check will be in the month of October volunteers will be needed.

g. Class Reps: We are looking for a parent or two from each class room to be a PAC representative. As a Class Rep you will be required to attend PAC meetings and convey information to the parents of your class helping improve communication and inclusion between the PAC and the parents h. School Magnets: Last year we provided school magnets to each family highlighting important school dates, pro D days and holidays along with our school contact information. To produce these magnets is was quite costly, this year we would like to do them again at a more reasonable rate. Action Item: Laura Watson will explore more cost effective options for producing the magnets i. DPAC- Michelle Rodgers will be our DPAC representative

Fundraising List and Ideas: This year our big capital expense will to replace the existing Play Grounds (a quote still needs to be obtained) In light of that we will be doing a number of fundraisers this year. This years fundraising initiatives will be the following - Book & Bake Sale- September 28th & 29th -Purdys Chocolate November/December - Gift Card Program- All Year - 2nd Bake Sale - December -Scrap and Craft- January -Kids Swap Meet- February 4th -Carnival May 25th
