I. Welcome & Introductions- Sarah Reimers II. Special Thanks A. Barnes & Noble shoppers B. See's & Innisbrook Coordinators C. Council Committee D. Community Day Coordinators and Volunteers III. School/Instructional Reports A. Ms. Adams 1. The first set of periodic assessments have been given. 2. She is looking for volunteers to help out with a drop-off valet program. 3. The 4th grade Monterey Bay installation in room 9 is amazing. 4. We are in need of a Community Rep who can read, write and speak Spanish. This is a paid position to help with things like translating documents to Spanish and translating at FOW meetings. IV. Officer and Council Reports A. President- Sarah Reimers 1. Michael Stenger had recommended we join the Venice Chamber of Commerce. They have an Education Committee and the Chamber is good for networking. There is a $75 fee to join, and we are going forward with this. 2. FOW will be getting holiday gifts for Coach Rachel, Lynn Webster, and our Studio teachers. 3. January Goals- Community Building and Communications Streamlining a. We will be having a Kinder Family Meeting after drop-off one morning in January to check in. b. Encouraging class potlucks. c. Ms. Adams is going to start emailing the Sunday night phone call. If you don't receive the email, the office probably does not have your correct email address on file. You can provide that information to the office. d. We are looking at starting a Wednesday night email blast to highlight items in the Wednesday packet that gets sent home. e. Something Ms. Adams has done at other schools is a Curricular Night with educational games and activities for families to do together. This is something we could possibly do next school year. 4. December Fundraising a. Looking for end of the year donations for the Annual Fund. b. We need to look for possible businesses to participate in the Cornerstone Banner Campaign. Good possibilities could be service providers that don't really have anything to donate to the auction. B. Acting Treasurer- Mark Sim 1. We currently have $50,000 in cash. 2. We raised $80,000 from August 1 through tonight's meeting. 3. We are looking into insurance coverage for FOW officers and volunteers to pay for legal defense if we were sued. The policy we are looking at has an annual premium of $1165. By a vote of 20 yes votes to 0 no votes, it was decided FOW is willing to cover the premium, and we will move forward with reviewing the insurance policy. C. Fundraising- Lisa Tauscher, Michelle Dean and Lynn Jones 1.We made over $5000 from the See's Candy and Innisbrook fundraisers. This was more than our goal of $4000!

2. Auction a. We are already receiving donations. b. In January, they will be getting a group together to start making calls to potential donors. c. The auction will mostly be online, where it will be up and running in early April. d. The actual auction event will be April 28. 3. The Winter Sing will be professionally recorded this year. The school will receive $2 from each DVD purchased. 4. The Walgroovies have already earned over $5,000. D. Secretary- Kathy Smith 1. We need baked good donations for the bake sale to be held during the Winter Sing on December 14. 2. The Holiday Boutique will also be that day from 8am-3pm. E. School Site Council/EVTF- John Fischer and Amy Johnson 1. The next meeting will be December 15. 2. They are working on figuring things out for next year's budget. V. Old Business A. RFP Update 1. The RFP is posted on the Facilities Service Division website at http://www.laschools.org/employee/fcs/rfqs-rfps. Click on See the RFP/RFQ Listings. 2. Only two schools submitted applications. These schools are Ocean Charter and Green Dot Animo Westside Middle School. VI. New Business A. Beautification- The Gardening Committee released its first newsletter The Calm-Post this month. B. Library- Lisa Haase 1. We have $4000 to spend on new books from Mrs. Nelson's Book Fairs. 2. The Mystery Game has been very popular. 3. Our library intern, Inga, has been a great visionary for the library. She works in the library 4 hours a week. VI. Happenings and Help Wanted A. Islands Dine Out!- December 7 B. Principal Coffee Clatch about Report Card- December 9 after assembly C. Winter Sing and Holiday Boutique!- December 14 D. SSC Meeting- December 15
