IV. Procedures

4As TEACHER
The teacher first establishes procedures before starting the class such as:

 check if learners’ special educational needs in difficult times are met or addressed

(such as students who are near-sighted, dyslexic, partially deaf, recovering from an

injury, or non-native speaker of Hiligaynon, etc)

 check if the learners have the capacity to perform learning tasks at hand (educability)
PRE-ACTIVITY

 Others (seating arrangements, attendance check, cleanliness of the classroom, class

rules, proper school uniform, grooming, and/or bridging/connecting the previous lesson

to the new lesson).

Indicator 2: Plan and deliver teaching strategies that are responsive to the special educational

needs of learners in difficult circumstances, including: geographic isolation; chronic illness;

displacement due to armed conflict, urban resettlement, or disasters; child abuse and child

practices

A. Background Check

Since this is a continuation of the previous lesson, the teacher will check understanding on

journal writing. (Strategy used by the teacher: short quiz/Q and A)

TRUE or False

Questions:

____________ 1. Writing a journal is also a space to express ones thoughts and ideas. (T)

____________ 2. Journal entries include various elements and techniques in writing. (T)

____________ 3. A journal does not require specific dates unlike diary. (F)

____________ 4. Journal writing and diary are similar types of composition. (F)

____________ 5. Self-interview is important in writing a journal. (T)

*The teacher will show immediately the results of the short quiz to the learners. Learners are reminded that

the scores are used only to measure the extent of what they know about the topic. This will also serve as a

guide for the teacher on which part of the lesson should he give more emphasis on in order to achieve the

learning objectives.

** Learners who are not present during the lesson delivery due to some circumstances will be given the same

opportunity to learn with two (2) options: 1. Google Forms/Messenger/Plickers.com for those who have online

access and 2. Printed SLMs.

ACTIVITY

Indicator 2: Plan and deliver teaching strategies that are responsive to the special educational

needs of learners in difficult circumstances

Indicator 3: Select, develop, organize and use appropriate teaching and learning resources,

including ICT, to address learning goals

B. Motivation

3|Page
Sample questions:

1. Which part of the activity did you find difficult?

2. What scenarios are you familiar with? Describe each.

3. How does communication take place in each picture?

ANALYIS

4. How many people are involved in each scenario?

5. Why do we think about the numbers?

* Learners may give appropriate response or a nonverbal language as a sign of approval if they understood

instead. Nonverbal cues will also give chance to learners who are shy to speak and would rather use non-verbal

language to show that they are listening, and they understood the lesson.

Now, the teacher will discuss about the tips in writing a journal:

Try writing nonstop. You may select at what point of the day will you write. It may be in the

morning or in the evening or in any time you are comfortable. Journal writing may be done daily

or periodically. Write as though you are talking to yourself or a friend.

Focus on ideas, not looks. The real deal with journal is when you make new discoveries.

Your writing and its content shall develop even in a slightest way. Thus, concentrate on your

thoughts and disregard the appearance e.g. penmanship.

Always date your entries. It is easy to review and recall when dates are indicated. You need

to read your entries from time to time. Underline interesting insights.

Push an idea as far as you can. You may write an idea in different angles and perspectives.

With this, you may uncover new ideas.

Experiment in your writing. Dare to be original. Connect ideas creatively weaving together

the main ideas and details distinctively. Use imagery, figurative language and literary devices.

(The teacher will encourage learners to participate/answer.)

To further motivate learners to write a journal, the teacher shows a video presentation
ABSTRACTION

from YouTube which discusses about Journal Writing for Beginners.

Indicator 1: Apply knowledge of content within and across curriculum teaching areas

* The teacher will connect the lesson of the day to real-life situations and its connection to other subject

learning areas, such as in creating a blog post in websites or pages.

**Learners who are not present during the lesson delivery due to some circumstances will be given the same

opportunity to learn with two (2) options: 1. Links to YouTube videos discussing types of speech context for

those who have online access and 2. Printed SLMs.

The teacher prompts learners to start writing a journal based on their chosen topic.

As students begin writing their journal entries, walk around the room and monitor their

progress. Talk with students about which entry they choose, and how they are going to write

about that particular prompt. Answer questions as needed. Consider playing quiet classical

music in the background to help students feel both calm and focused as they write. Remind

students as you circulate that they should be incorporating detail into both their writing and
APPLICATION

their drawings.

(The teacher will provide positive praises/feedback from learners’ responses.)

Instructions: You may now start writing your journal entry based on the topic you have chosen.

The teacher gathers all the journal entries of the learners.

V. Evaluation

Encourage students to share snippets of their journal entries with the class. They may prefer to read

what they wrote, or they may want to describe the picture that they drew. Ask questions about the

entries and engage in discussion regarding their journal topics. Offer constructive feedback to those

who share their work.

Assignment

Encourage learners to complete the assigned journal entries at home using the list of prompts

provided. They should submit these entries on the next meeting.
