Self-worth and self-empowerment: I chose this emotion because it is what I want

to see in myself someday. I used a lot of different colors and layered them to add depth
to the portrait. I wanted it to look chaotic to symbolize my thoughts and constantly
changing life, and the colors and facial expression pull through to give the impression
that I am still in control.
I used a few watercolor techniques including salt, crayon resist, blotting, and
saran wrap. The emotions I conveyed are a reminder to me of a future self that I strive
to be someday. As I was making the portrait, I was able to envision a side of myself that
is in control of her life and emotions, and who can be positive and confident about
herself.

Confidence- It is what I want to become. I want to be more confident. Also just
being more positive, I want to be more positive. Lots of life changing stuff has
happened this year, so I wanted to show positivity and confidence. Red equals powerful,
yellow and orange equal hardworking, and blue equals strong. I used splatter, wet on
wet, salt, and watercolor pencils. This honestly has made me more confident and
positive. I think it's important every morning. I’ve learned that every day is a new day,
so why not make the most out of it?

I chose to represent happiness. I chose to portray this emotion because I have a
very negative appeal to everything, so I am working on being happier. I used bright
colors because those make me happy, so I did neon yellow, hot pink, turquoise, and
purple. In my picture I smiled to show happiness. I used splatter painting and let the
paint drip down the page.
Everyone needs to have fun and be happy sometimes and my emotions change
really fast, so being happy and calm is great. I hide my emotions because I annoy people.

The color and my facial expression are the colors of determination that is used
throughout the day when I’m doing sports or school work. I used purple because it’s a
happy color and it is a color that I personally like. Also, I picked red because it’s a
passionate color, green because of the Earth and its beauty. I conveyed the emotion of
determination by the color and expression and how I drew myself. I used all watercolor
techniques because it looks really good, but I mostly used splatter because, to me, it
represents determination. The colors and the watercolor techniques represent me. I
usually don’t share my emotions with others, I deal with them myself.

I tried to represent confidence. I am not very confident, but I thought that if it

was in art form, I would be more confident. I was wrong. I used blue, pink, and
purple because I think that those colors pop, and I think that represents confidence. I
used black in it because I believe it gives more seriousness to the painting. I mean that
it shows that I have to earn the confidence that is shown in my picture.

My emotions that I showed were spunky and crazy. I chose the colors because a
bunch of colors makes a crazy and chaotic feeling. I conveyed the emotion through
making scribbles on my hand and blending all the colors. My watercolor techniques that
I used are salt, wet on dry, alcohol, and saran wrap. These emotions helped shape my
identity be how crazy I am. I like this about me because it helps me with sports and life.

I chose happy. I chose this because I’ve always tried to have a happy outlook on
everything. I used bright colors. I made sure to focus on my smile. I used splatter, wet
on dry, and I used watercolor pencils. These help with color and emotions. I accept the
fact that you always have to be happy.
