adjustment, Fine adjustment , Revolving nosepiece, Draw
tube
• 2. Magnifying Part

Manipulation of the Microscope
1. Carry the microscope carefully with both hands, one hand on the arm
and the other hand on the base.
2. Place the microscope in front of you. It should be just far enough from
the edge of the table to keep it from falling and to allow you to view it
comfortably.
3. Gently clean all optical surfaces with lens paper.
4. Put the slide with the specimen at the center of the stage and clip it in
place.
5. Bring the LPO in place and bring the objectives as close as possible
using the coarse adjustment. Always begin your examination with the
LPO.
6. Keep both eyes open and focus carefully with the coarse adjustment
until the specimen is roughly in focus.
7. Adjust the amount of light reaching your eye with the iris diaphragm.
This is important since it is difficult to see the details with too much or
too little light.
8. Once the material is focus, move the slide lightly and note its direction
