SUBJECT: Coolant Level Sensor Replacements and GM 2.4L and 4.3L Air Bleed Procedure

MODELS AFFECTED: All Fortis Products

DESCRIPTION:
This Parts-Service Gram replaces Gram AB00083R1 to add the 4.3L engine. Please discard all
electronic and paper copies of that Gram.

If the low coolant warning icon on the dash display is illuminated, or if DTC 111-1 (Radiator coolant level
low) is active, please refer to the troubleshooting procedure in Service Manual 9000 SRM 1112 –
Diagnostics Troubleshooting.

1- In the event the procedure directs towards a faulty sensor, part number 1531404, make sure the
sensor contact tip is not contaminated with coolant sludge. If it is contaminated, wipe off the
contamination with a clean shop rag and reinstall.

2 – Also make sure the coolant level is not fluctuating due to air entrapment before actually replacing the
sensor. Note! The GM 2.4L and 4.3L engines are susceptible to air entrapment, which could result in
a low coolant condition intermittently, if not properly serviced. To purge any entrapped air, block the
radiator airflow and warm the coolant temperature to 200 deg F in order to ensure full thermostat
opening. Top off the coolant level after cool-down and after ensuring any entrapped air has been
purged.
