ENGINEER LIBRARY AND FILING SYSTEM

All company record was kept in folders in Ch. Eng. Day Room Office and Engine
Control Room. They are Maintained up to date, only new company filing system for easy
handling and recording (there are also some old Files but not all updated).

SHIP’S PLAN, DRAWINGS AND MACHINERY OPERATING MANUALS

One set of Manuals, drawings are in Engine Office, and additional one set is in CE
Cabin/Library.
Some Instruction Manuals are available also in Engine Control Room & Computer
(Manuals Folder).

CONSUMPTION

Main Engine fuel consumption: ~75%MCR - 33.6 MT/day


Auxiliary Engine fuel consumption: - 1.9 MT/day
MDO used for Auxiliary Diesel Generator, Thermal heater and emergency Diesel
Generator.

ADMINISTRATION

 TOUCH is in active use since beginning of January 2020. Still a lot of things
there are to be amended and improved.
 Tabular jobs in TOUCH to be closed in time
 Running hours tab is ok and hours based jobs are activated.
 Purchasing module is in use.
 Equipments are still developing and all the issues and problems should be
reported to chief engineer so that he can contact TOUCH support in order to find
out the solution.
 All missing spares and equipment should be discussed as well with chief engineer

MONTHLY REPORTS

 Readings of Monthly running hours to be completed and updated on TOUCH, to


do so you should enter by chief engineer account then select running hour’s
option and update the running hours.
 Monthly performance test to be carried out and put in monthly report.

MACHINERY CONDITION

AUXILIARY ENGINES

Auxiliary engine NO. 1

Working in good condition. Last complete overhaul with crankshaft replacement was
14.07.2018 @ 29800RH. Turbo charger replaced 12.04.2021, with running hours
33876RH. Then again Major overhaul except main bearings on 24.11.2018 @ 29995RH.
Lube oil cooler cleaned last June 2020, Air cooler cleaned 13.04.2021 @ 33876RH,
Turbo washing blower side to be done every 150 hours with fresh water, also monthly
performance test to be carried out to. All alarms/shutdown tested 02.08.2021.
Thermostatic elements for HT and LT systems were changed 11.07.2021, new housing
has been installed as well 11.07.2021. Automatic start available.
Fuel injector valves inspection 2000 R/H carried out 26.07.2021: fuel injector valve No 3,
No 4 and No 5 completely changed with new nozzle (check the NOx file)
Fuel injector valves No 1, No 2 and No 6 cleaned and adjustment of opening pressure
after has been found not correct.
Lub oil safety filter cleaned and cartridge replaced 30.07.2021

Auxiliary engine NO. 2

Working in good condition. Last TC overhaul 07.07.2018 @ 33725RH and Last major
overhaul with crankshaft replacement on 02.12.2018 @ 34100RH, Air cooler cleaned last
September 2020 @ 38710RH, Turbo washing blower side to be carried out every 150
hours with fresh water, also monthly performance test to be carried out. SYNPOL D unit
[second hand] installed 10.10.2020. All alarms/shutdown tested 02.08.2021. Automatic
start available.
Lub oil safety filter cleaned and cartridge replaced 04.07.2021

Auxiliary engine NO. 3

Working in Good condition. Last TC overhaul 07.07.2018 @ 33774RH and Last major
overhaul 24.05.2019 @ 35215RH, Air cooler cleaned last July 2020 @ 37760RH, Turbo

washing blower side to be done every 150 hours with fresh water, also monthly
performance test to be carried out. Lube oil cooler cleaned last July 2020. All
alarms/shutdown tested 02.08.2021; HT high temp sensor replaced by new one after has
been found not working. Automatic start available.
Lub oil safety filter cleaned and cartridge replaced 02.08.2021

Em’cy generator

Em’cy generator is in satisfactory working condition should be tested every week.


Battery start or hydraulic start runs without difficulties. Test run for half an hour – no
remarks. Fuel tank filled up enough for 18 hrs. Running without stop. Can be used as
harbor generator in case of sea water cooling system repair required.
Regular safety checks as per maintenance schedule being carried out.
All critical spares available (in EDG room).

Oil Analysis

Sampling kits are in control room. 4-th Engineer is in charge. Check with him every
week the analysis results especially water content analysis if any abnormality report to
chief engineer and try to find out the source of the problem.
Monthly send the following samples to quality LAB test:
ME, all three aux engines, CPP, steering gear (both systems), thermal oil.
All the other samples to be taken and sent according to PMS schedule.

GENERAL INFORMATION

 All generators use MGO only


 Filling of Lube oil in sump tank, was done manually.15 liters per 24 hours
normally.
 Safety filters checked regularly.
 MDO feed pumps changeover each month minimum or when necessary, filters
after pumps to be cleaned every month.
 One preheater is operational, while the other is already ordered in 2020
requisitions, new motor for the preheating circ. Pump. However, on normal
conditions (LT temperature not dropping below 20C) preheating is not required as
we use MGO, in the event of using the preheating system, Close LT inlet and
outlet so that it may take effect and Open only before starting Generators.

THERMAL OIL SYSTEM

Thermal oil heater

In good working Condition, Maintenance per month or as needed. Monthly maintenance


include changing over of pumps, cleaning of filters, polishing electrodes, cleaning and
test function of photocell, Cleaning of air diffuser.

Thermal oil

2.6 cubic meters of Thermal oil drained from the system, exp Tk cleaned and thermal oil
drain Tk cleaned as well and 3 cubic meters of fresh oil filled to the system almost 70%
of oil replaced 16.07.2021

Filling pump located near bilge pump, suction from either thermal oil storage but mostly
thermal oil drain tk. Switch located in heater panel. Take note not to fill up oil when
boiling out the expansion tank. A Sudden expansion occurs and high level alarm as well
as slow down to ME occurs.

Thermal oil remaining on board in storage tank should be used as per C/E advice.
Thermal oil leakage below the dump cooler already eliminated in last technical stop

Economizer

Very efficient, in good working condition.


Thermal oil fired heater {thermal oil leakage sensor switched off } from time to time you
need to check the drain from that sensor if any leakage report to chief engineer

Thermal oil Flow control

New controller for Thermal Oil pressure was installed and tested.

Fuel system

In charge of all transfers of fuel oil, Settling Tk. Gauges sometimes stuck In position, you
can try unsticking by magnet and a little knocking, if not then just wait for it, important
thing is you’re familiarize with the capacity of the tank and transfer pump rate (normally
around 20tons per hour @ 50C +/- 10) to avoid overflow, Transfer pump filter cleaned
every 2months or as needed. We are using VLSFO, take special attention to Viscosity
and Temp. , Adjustment is done automatically by the modulating valve. Fuel line safety
valve in good condition. Normally at 10 Bars it shall open. In case of MDO transfer from
storage tank to service tank, Normal position I keep 1 Round open for MDO service tk. 1

and full open MDO service tk. 2 so that they fill up almost at the same time, Both Service
tank are interconnected for bigger capacity.

Purifiers

HFO Purifier no. 1


In good running condition.

HFO Purifier no. 2


In good running condition.

AE/MDO LO Purifier
In good working Condition, only used on MDO mode.

ME LO Purifier
New unit installed last year in good running condition.

SPARE PART

All spare parts of Auxiliary engines are in generator room, with designated box
number.

We are fully equipped with essential spare parts.

Weekly testing carried out every Sunday.

Good working condition.

PIPING SYSTEM
Generally, pipes & valves in Engine Room are in poor condition. Pipes repaired and
replaced by condition.
