The Trials of the Rizal Bill
PRO
 The works of Rizal does not
shows only the strength and
virtues of every Filipino but
also the flaws which makes
them realize and be their lesson
in order to attain freedom.
 The main objective of this bill
is to promote our national hero
for becoming one fighter of our
freedom under the colonialism
of Spaniards.
 The writings of Rizal is not
against the religion and not
attacking the faith of the
Roman Catholic but it only
convey the happenings and
event during the Spanish
occupation.
 The life, works and writing of
Jose Rizal, particularly his
novels Noli Me Tangere and El
Filibusterismo, are a constant
and inspiring source of
patriotism with which the
minds of the youth, especially
during their formative and
decisive years in school, should
be suffused.
CONS
 Prior to the approval of R.A.
1425 there are still people who
refused to support the bill.
 There must not be any form of
writings or publications to be
released against one’s religious
convictions.
 A country must portray unity of
its people but it is impossible to
happen when a country was
divided among its state and
church as per the bill.
 The Catholic Church opposed
this law because the church
claims it would violate freedom
of conscience and religion.
 The faith of the people is being
compromised. This law is
endangering the Christian
growth of the students who are
still in their formative years.
This can drive the youth to
question the credibility of the
church and its teachings and
traditions.
 According to a survey, the
Rizal course is not actually
significant for the students. It is
just a laborious subject that
adds unnecessary work load to
students.
