Statement of Purpose

For Training and Placement Representative

I am applying for the post of Training and Placement Representative for Electrical
Engineering 2014 batch 2014 keeping in mind the responsibility this position carries. My
primary motive is to work hard for the betterment of the college, in terms of placements.
Being a position which requires a hard working and dedicated person, I am keenly
interested because I want to give back something to my college which has given so much to
me and maintain the legacy of excellence . This is the driving force which motivates me. I
think the best day in this college for me would be the day when my batch mates get placed
on campus due to my efforts. The moment would be one of self satisfaction and pride,
which would be my reward.

Bringing companies to the campus for campus interviews is one of the important aspects
expected of the colleges in India. As a placement coordinator, I would like to improve the
college profile, interact with my batch mates for better preparation in company interviews,
maintaining good relations and interact with the HR's of companies, start contacting them in
advance for their campus visit, make negotiations for relaxation in eligibility criteria, convert
as many companies as possible by convincing them of the qualities of the batch, facilitate
and provide hospitality to any company's visit, ensure that the students know the trends
and feel comfortable with the placement committee and target maximum placement of
students according to their preferences.

Although termed by many as a thankless position, however according to me, this position
would help me to enhance my leadership, organization skills, team work, discipline,
planning and handling short deadlines. Being a part of the Marketing team of Technex'16
has helped me in interacting with a lot of corporate people on a professional platform and
has improved my communication skills. I aim to pursue management after completing my
undergraduate education, so by interacting with the HRs of various companies, I can
improve my communication skills being an introvert predominantly. It will certainly be one
of the best learning experiences one can ever have. Also, apart from the challenges of the
post, I am also open to criticism from my friends.

Hence, keeping the above points in my mind, I am applying for this post knowing my
obligation to safeguard the image and reputation of our university, since the reputation of
IITs boils down to placements.
